Damn that looks awesome. Nick drake but without the douche. Perfect game!
Edit: I suppose he wasn't that much of douche, I liked the character...

Surprised that no one's freaking out about this being a departure (I assume, only ever played Anniversary) for the series.

I don't think it's that bad of a thing. The Tomb Raider games were kinda running out of steam - Underworld was alright, but wasn't exactly amazing. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was definitely better than the last few 'proper' Tomb Raider games.

Meanwhile, Uncharted has basically completely owned that little sub-genre. I don't see Tomb Raider going this way as a bad thing at all; I think it's exactly what the franchise needed. A reboot gets rid of the somewhat messy canon the Tomb Raider games had built up and allows it to redefine itself in light of what games like Uncharted are doing.

Ah, it's refreshing to finally see a Tomb Raider where Lara is positively getting the **** kicked out of her in every other scene.

I don't mean that as a sadistic thing, it's just seeing her character attempting (and often failing) to deal with extreme conditions and challenges does a lot to make her more sympathetic. I didn't really have a problem with the gameplay in Legend and the remake of the original but something about the whole tone of the games just made me hate them.

It was initially refreshing to see a more gritty game, but the novelty is starting to wear off and if the game is 90% Lara being f*#ked over then my enthusiasm will dampen quite quickly. There's only so much constant screaming, yelling in pain that I can take.

Never played a Tomb Raider game in my life but I am very interested in this one. And yes, it does seem like Uncharted but I don't necesssarily see that as a bad thing.
