New Tomb Raider Trailer Shows Gameplay, March 5 2013 Release

The pre-E3 showing continues, with Crystal Dynamics revealing a new trailer for their Tomb Raider reboot, as well as a release date: March 5, 2013. The trailer is all gameplay, and shows Lara mostly escaping from death by the skin of her teeth in a number of different, mostly horrifying ways. Intriguing! Click here to check it out.

I think it's more a re-imagining of the character/series than trying to fit anywhere in particular in the existing franchise.

I don't think the game looks a lot like the previous tomb raiders but they may pull it off. However all the variations from the winning tomb raider formula have ended badly.

The old Tomb Raiders 1,2 and 3 are really good and I would buy them on GOG.com if I didn't buy the Tomb Raider anthology from the UK last year (that is the only place I could find a copy of the first 4 tomb raider games in one package).

Looks interesting to me. Hopefully still full of those exploring moments that made the originals great, and not just a string of quicktime events or anything like that. (it crosses my mind after watching this clip that it might turn into this...maybe completely unfounded but...)

That whole trailer made me mildly uncomfortable. The things that were happening reminded me mainly of Uncharted in terms of chaos and explosions and surviving-by-skin-of-teeth. In Uncharted though, the main character was presented differently I think. More cool-headed and less overcome by bloody brutal suffering.

I think it looked pretty damn good. But hopefully it isn't full of QTEs. I love the beating that Lara got, a much more realistic(ish) look then we are generally exposed to.
