you should try the anti personnel mines, especially the trip mines. I've been enjoying planting a few of these inside buildings and doorways and watching the ai stroll into them. joy...

No Australian servers is both surprising and disappointing.

Also, SP campaign is utterly broken for me, I'm at the rifle range and can move the rifle up and down but not left to right. Wat.

I haven't played it, but can anyone actually see this title being popular, or lasting more than a few months?

I imagine it will be quite popular, before A3 comes out anyway. They just need to unhinge some limitations atm... like being able to mod the damn thing.

yeah I had the same problem with the training mission - pain in the butt. I had a prob with the russian training mission as well - managed to hitch the arty piece, drove it to the correct spot, unhitched it...then couldn't get in the bloody thing to push it. all I got was 'mobile' or 'combat'. when I selected 'combat' my only option was.....wait for it.....'mobile' :) and you can't push it without being in the fkg thing.

either way, I think its an excellent mod....its like a revamped version of Red Orchestra 1 but with better graphics. The opportunities are endless in this game (ie. ArmA base).

hopefully they release the patch quickly esp for us Steam users (the beta patch doesn't work with steam)

Once somebody puts up a server in Aus I can see myself spending a lot of time in the air battling it out without flares or the like.

Man the BM-13 launcher is awesome if you haven't tried it out yet.

all I got was 'mobile' or 'combat'. when I selected 'combat' my only option was.....wait for it.....'mobile' and you can't push it without being in the fkg thing.

I got stuck pushing the thing in multiplayer while I was being peppered with MG42 quite an unfair situation.

It's probably more niche than ARMA, the WW2 fanatics will get around it for a long time to come.

WW2 has been done to death though. Even more niche than ARMA2? Just don't see many servers going up, or staying up for such a small player-base.

I'll give it a go on the weekend though. AFAIK, AEF are just waiting for the server patch to fix stability issues, then they'll put a server back up.

yeah most of the guys in my squad (WTE) have just purchased it - we're hooking up this friday night. Don't think we have our server up and running as yet.

I always found ArmA2 is an excellent game to play online (esp domination) with a squad all on TS - same for IFL44. Most of us are inf-minded anyway.

I went online last night looking for a server and didn't find much. :(

I've been hosting a small IF insurgency this afternoon and it actually has some low pingers in it for once. There is also a warfare on there but it's fairly buggy at this point in time.

Kinda it's the original by pogoman. The warfare that was made up isn't that flash but I had an enjoyable night blowing up bridges stopping Nazi trucks from coming across

I agree with Freeborne, too many movies and games based on WWII. I want to see earlier conflicts where the battles were won by the men on the ground rather than who had the best air force, like WWI or the Boer War.

I'm pretty sure WWI was won due to economic exhaustion and interior domestic pressure, rather than any series of brilliant tactical decisions by 'men on the ground'.

The Arab Israeli conflicts of 1948 and 1967 are overlooked by games makers (probably due to religious sensitivity).

I'd like to see a modern game based on the Falklands Conflict - that had it all, navies, air-strikes, infantry combat...

That may be how the overall war was won, but the air force was far less effective then (Australia didn't even have one at that stage) and so individual battles were decided by tactics and strategy rather than air superiority. It was also the only war I'm aware of to have a decent Australian general.

The Arab Israeli conflics really arent that interesting to my knowleage. The Israeli air force smashed the **** out of everyone else while the ground forces mopped up. That said, the Yon Kippur war might be interesting because it's pretty much the only one that could be considered a fair fight.
