its not always the best marks, my gpa was 5.12, that's credit average, but out of the 30 people that graduated, Im the one with arguably the best job, one of the few who actually have a full time job.

I've found that the challenges I took in uni have helped the most, I didn't always get the best mark, but coming into the industry and being faced with a problem, I can go "I attempted this at uni, and I know where I went wrong, I won't make the same mistake" compared to others who avoided the challenges.

as marius said, they don't emphasize everything at uni, but then again, they only had 3 years to try and teach everything

The real thing with marks is not the score, but really the effort you put in to achieve them.

So my marks are useless, but my research and writing skills learned in the course of them are not (even if I had to seek further training post uni to delearn crappy academic writing... my first submissions to GoN years ago were turned down).

Learning networking is really just another form of effort. And like everything, it usually pays to diversify so you have a broad range of skills. Especially early on in life when you can hardly be called a specialist expert.

I still remember going to entire lectures about how it had to be 2cm margins and nothing else.

I feel for you bro, that sucks. 80-90% of my courses have actually been really good. Especially this year, got some real crackers although their highly theoretical. For the record I'm doing computer science not soft eng

I didn't answer the doorbell this morning, thinking it was a salesperson/electricity/gas company rep. :D

Just checked the letterbox and I have a calling card to collect a package

Just found out that a woman I know is going to have her dog put down because it(with muzzle on) had a go at her baby. Fair enough you don't want that to happen but the dog was such a nice soul when it was younger but she then let her psychopath son near it and he turned it into the angry dog it became (hence why it had to be muzzled).

Worst part is that she is already talking about getting another dog for her son but she is sure "this one will be child friendly..." yeah right. Why oh why do we allow some people to breed?
