Wii U Version of Colonial Marines Will Be Best-Looking of All, Says Gearbox

Gearbox is insisting that the Wii U version of their upcoming title, Aliens: Colonial Marines will be the best-looking version, topping the current generation HD consoles. More than visuals though, Brian Burleson of Gearbox is all but singing the consoles praises. "[Creating the Wii U version] has been pretty easy," he told Eurogamer on Friday. "The Wii U is a powerful, powerful machine and it can do a lot of cool new things. And so the game itself, moving it over to work on the Wii U was not much of a chore."

About the new controller, he added, "Now the interesting thing is finding out all the cool ways you can use the controller to do new stuff with it. You can imagine all the cool things we can do, with this franchise and having a thing with you, right?", he said, presumably referring to using the Wii U's controller screen as the franchises' iconic motion detector.

It's just what happens with newer tech, Wii u version will be 1080p while 360 & PS3 will only be 720p.

If they dare choose to develop the game based on a console and then port it to PC then it will be severely lacking in quality and features JUST like AvP 2010 did I will be a very angry man.

If this is the case, I hope Gearbox fails and enforced to shut down for their failure and damage dealt to a beloved franchise.

What is surprising is he says it will be the best version? So either they are not making a PC version or he thinks current PC's cant match the Wii U quality?

It's just a bit of marketing to pander to the various segments of the market.

Gearbox are definitely thinking of all the stuff they can do with the PC...Because I have my latest copy of Atomic on the desk next to me...

Art Director Brian Cozzens - "There are things you can do on the PS3 that you can't do on the 360 well, and visa versa. And then the PC version obviously blows everything out of the water, because it's updated and it's modern. It's got a lot of texture memory, most likely a modern GPU. We heard PC. But the [user] base on console is huger, so we try to make everyone happy. That's the real challenge. When we're making assets, we're like 'Okay, what's the highest fidelity of this asset? Who's going to get what? How do we make sure that when the PC player is playing that he's getting maxed out with everything he wants? That he's getting as high-res as he can be, and everything is having as much fidelity as it can be?'"...

..."In opportunities with the PC, we're working with AMD and NVIDIA and the hardware manufacturers to find opportunities to make the game look even better. So yeah...I imagine what they're talking to PS3 Mags, they'll say it will look awesomer as well.

The Wii doesn't have anything to do with it. Many people I know bought the Wii because of the tennis and arcade-like games. Wii U? Only the Nintendo fans will buy it and I think it's going to sell less than the 3DS.

Guess we'll wait and see.
