Activision's ''Gotta be Crazy'' to Give Up True Crime, Says Square

Unread postby News Portal » 27 May 12, 2:05 pm

True Crime: Hong Kong, the game now known as Sleeping Dogs, was dumped by Activision, before being picked up by Square Enix. Now Squeenix's Mike Fischer has labelled Activision's decision to dump the franchise as "crazy", saying: "I can’t speak to why they let that go. I’m not going to speculate on their behalf. All I know is, they’ve gotta be crazy. Because this game is just fantastic."

An easy cheap shot from Square to build hype (I hadn't heard of Sleeping Dogs until today) largely made so that everyone is aware of the pedigree.

Will watch this one from afar.

The first true crime wasn't too bad. I'll keep an eye on this.

I have been keeping an eye on Sleeping Dogs/True Crime for a while, because I was always a fan of the original. Quite happy with the price of it on Steam too.

Hopefully they have fixed the driving mechanic in the later build, from what reviews said before that it wasn't good and somewhat worse then gta.

But then the release is listed as August - and thats before the inevitable delays - so you are preordering significantly in advance

Don't forget they are offering $5 trade in for the Disciples II: Gold Edition which they just gave out for FREE the other day, add in the dollar or so trade in value I had from 2 of their other free game giveaways a while back and yeah, I'm pretty happy paying just under $30 for this.

Thanks man, got me a pre-order. 44 dollars was a good deal, but $36 is so much better! I haven't paid retail price (90 more or less) in a year because of online deals. No wonder GAME went belly up. EB Games haven't made any money on me in ages.

Kept an eye on this game for a couple of months now. I am a huuuge fan of Sqeenix and I laughed at their comments to Activision. Some video game companies have been making so many bad mistakes lately, Team Bondi, Big Huge Games/Studio 38 all going bust.

I almost cried when Big Huge Games folded. Kingdoms of Amalure: Reckoning is a fantastic game, one of my favorites. I will be playing it for a long, long time.

Activision only cares about one game atm.
