It's somewhat impossible. I can see it never being finished on hardcore.

Where abouts are you up to? I'd watch a live stream of people doing that. I bet it will be done, and sooner than you'd think. That's my guess anyway, people are ingenious! :P

Just on act 1. Every rare/champion mob you come across is instant death solo. They are so fast that once you've drawn aggro, you will die. With 4 properties, it's more likely you'll get a combo that is near impossible to fight. In a group it might be possible if you have a good tank, good healer and some good damage, but a single extra mob from the side will eat your squishy classes before the tank can react.

I'm finding it much easier on inferno to be solo. What class are you playing?
With some good shadow stepping I can stay invis for like .. 20 - 24 seconds. Generally long enough to kill one mob. Then I run away, come back, and can generally kill the next, rinse and repeat.

As a witch doctor. Pets are useless, they die too quickly to tank, and they draw aggro from nearby groups, making it even harder/riskier to kill. They also aggro the treasure goblin before people are ready/in position to kill it. I can certainly do the damage to kill most elite/champion mobs, it's just keeping myself alive and getting into a position to do it.

In groups I do fine. My skills in crowd control work fairly well with wall of zombies/mass confusion/charm frogs/hex.

Inferno seems to be heavily player skill based, but you need a minimum gear requirement to do it.

There are player screenshots and videos of killing Diablo in inferno, so it's already been completed.

I'm only on nightmare with my hardcore character, but intend to take going to inferno very slow.

There was one group that was exploiting monks invulnerability skill by chaining it, but it got nerfed. The other people are corpse hopping through the acts to just fight the bosses. The bosses are actually easier to fight than the rare/champion mob packs. The strategy for each of the bosses remains the same at all levels and is fairly simple.

Beating inferno really means that you can farm it for items/gold reliably.

I think I saw a wizard finish it, but they basically went glass cannon style and put everything into damage and playing solo, so he could kill most mobs and get enough life back per kill to stay at full health, but if he took a hit from anything, he'd die.

I could see my wizard doing that, at 1500dps currently its really good, and going archon means I can deal ~60k in 15 seconds. I am definitely looking forward to the challenges of inferno

So I've finished act 1 and can't change the difficulty. All I can do is the perma death one. Any ideas? (also, can't do for new character).

You need to complete the whole game (acts I-IV) on normal before you unlock NM.

Edit: The same thing for the harder difficulties too. Complete all of NM to unlock hell, and all hell to unlock inferno.

Yeah you don't want to go into inferno as a level 1...

One of my old guildmates is running inferno on Hardcore on his WD up to act ii, no idea how he does it...

And yest Inferno solo is easier than co-op, mate finished it with his DH today, though he did use the exploit till its patch today, can't see it being done on hardcore for a while (legit anyway)

Hardcore gets easier as you get more experienced. It sharpens you up. :)
