Got myself a better weapon too, the weaponsmith you get a random quest from near the end of Act 1 was selling this

Well the rigours of Act 2 Nightmare has forced me to change my approach, started to swap out Str for Vit and changed up my abilities somewhat. Now gone

LMB: Cleave + Scattering Blast (knockback and extra dam on crits)
RMB: Hammer of the Ancients + Thunderstrike (when you kill an enemy all enemies near stunned for 3 seconds)
1: Revenge + self heal
2: Threatening Shout + attack speed reduction
3: War Cry + extra armour buff
4: Call of the Ancients + 20s duration

Passives

Tough as Nails (25% extra armour)
Inspiring Presence (self heal on TS and WC)
Nerves of Steel (VIT bonus to armour)

Seems to be working well, just took on a mob of Champions with Jailer and Mortar and took em down without dying :)

edit: messing around with the two mouse button skills but the rest seem to be pretty solid. Taken out 6-7 champ and elite groups now with only one death, compared to 2-3 deaths on each group.

Yeah that merchant is pretty good.

On my normal run I bought two hand crossbows which had 30.4 DPS each (waaay about usual level 14 weapons).

On my Nightmare run I bought 7 amulets with 114 strength and 20 vitality for 5K each, and have been selling them one by one for 25K on the AH.

Optimised my build somewhat, absolutely smashing Act 2 nightmare now. Took on a rare and a champion pack at once last night and handled them pretty easily.

Threatening Shout and War Cry are both Rage builders so I WC as soon as I see some mobs, and TS once I get on top of them. This gives me 20% extra armour, reduces enemy damage and attack speed by 15% and gives me a self-heal buff. It also gives me 45 Rage straight off the bat so if it is appropriate I can start Whirlwinding straight away.

Revenge is tailor made to combo with Whirlwind so much its ridiculous. It has the same or similar range as Whirlwind so I start WWing through mobs, and if I start dropping health considerably, Revenge usually procs and I hit it for a massive damage and self-healing spike. With Vengeance is Mine it also gives 5 fury for each enemy hit, so I can go straight back to WW afterwards :)

With 4 different self-healing abilities and hugely increased armour, he can keep soaking damage for quite a while, even without a shield. I'd expect that I will need to go to a 1h and shield in Hell, but for NM its perfect :)

Saith, I love using frenzy for my single target, and earthquake with the slow debuff turns things into mush

Just turned on Elective mode and decided to reimagine my lvl 30 barb so that he focuses on generating Fury or not spending so much Fury so I can use Earthquake when I need it (assuming it's ready).

Using Cleave with rupture as my main attack. Furious Charge on my right click, leap, Warcry, Revenge and then Earthquake as my all powerful move (something has to use that Fury).

Enjoying this build as I have enough skills so I can alternate between them while they cooldown. Will probably use the rune that reduces Furious Charge cool down per target hit so I can use it more frequently. Will probably also use the rune that reduces the cooldown for Earthquake.

Probably won't survive higher difficulties with this build but for Act III - Normal, it's plenty fun.

While the Barb is my highest level character, the other characters are pretty fun too... I love my Monk and Wizard and, after a bit of boredom with the Demon Hunter in the early teens, I'm enjoying the new skills I've unlocked. Witch Doctor is starting to feel a bit more powerful after getting Soul Harvest.

If you enjoy melee characters, I thoroughly recommend the Monk as well. The Monk does a better job of taking on groups and is a lot more agile than the Barb.

Good time too. High level Barb gear is supposedly relatively cheaper than for other classes due to the survival 'issues' barbs have in inferno. It's speculated that prices will rise once people find it's more viable to play as Barbs in inferno. In the interim, buy up that new gear while it's still cheap.

Been rocking something similar (now this) for a while in Nightmare, just couldn't handle dying so much in ActII, this build definitely helps :)

Sitting on level 55 at the moment, mashing my way through Hell difficulty. Died a few times, but its getting easier, not harder so far.

One thing I'm mystified at is the talk of Nightmare mode being harder. I died once, and if anything, found it easier than Normal mode. I got taken out by three elite mobs and about 100+ enemies at the same time.

I use bash with clobber (stunlock on enemies), revenge with vengeance is mine (instant health regenerated), threatening shout (with the health increaser), and lastly, call of the ancients (with the extending rune) for elites or large, powerful mobs. Those three guys are MUCH more effective than earthquake, as they chase the enemy down, which earthquake will not do.

Yeah, I'm thinking that I'll need to do the same. Was gonna do this before the fight with Diablo but forgot... as a consequence, my earthquake was squat all useful in that final battle.

Very tempted to use both Warcry and Threatening shout to charge up my fury faster. Might go back to Seismic Slam instead of Furious Charge so I'm not stuck with the cool down that FC has. Even with the cool down reduction rune, it's not useful with bosses.
