Are you talking about me here? I own and have played every single Arma title, I have played way back from the Operation flashpoint days, Back in what? 2002 or something.

I like this mod, But it should have been a closed alpha, It was not ready AT ALL to go public like it has.. It's reached a huge peak, Which will drop off now before the full release comes unless they now move quickly and get a lot of this stuff sorted very quickly.

Tas wrote:You guys are lucky, I've spent last 13 hours laying in one spot, unable to do a thing cos the game says im dead but not dead an I'm unconscious but not. So I cant talk cant log out cant do a thing. As for asking people to come kill me so I can respawn.... (Irony incoming) none wants to kill me....

Any Admins for the Day Z server ? ppl are sitting in "waiting for server response" for up to an hour at moment.

Just a hint for next time, The game doesn't save instantly all the time, So if you ever get shot logout STRAIGHT AWAY / Close arma, More than likely it wouldn't have saved and you can just log back in and continue from the last time it saved... Good for when you are falling from a ladder to quickly close the game etc.

In fact, there's a 70% chance it won't save at all, or that the next time you login it'll have reset your stats, there's HUGE DB problems going on at the Dayz mainserver which has our player Data... Quite often me and my mates logout, and find we're back at the start "reset" with nothing.

So right now, Just be a dick and shoot people and have fun, No use surviving when the game can't even simply save for you without borking itself.

oh I dont mind issues, its just how pre release goes. it's not an issue to me since I get "fun" by finding items so loosing them means very little to me..
I posted my ID on their forums, an someone must have reset my char, cos today I got in an it was working.I must admit, i have very little to complain about with Z day.

There is/was no planned "full release", it was designed as a proof of concept side project for one person, maybe you missed the huge ALPHA tag but it should have been very obvious.... UNFINISHED MOD. I don't get the crying, would you rather he didnt release it and nobody got to play anything? Because it sure as hell wouldnt have gotten this far and soaked up as much of Rocket's time if it hadnt been this popular.

That's fixed in tonights patch, what you're describing isn't the fault of the mod, it's the server you're playing on, if you get into a server and play for a few hours and it doesn't save then it's the fault of that individual server not being set up properly .

I've played multiple hours every day since the original thread was posted and i think i've had a grand total of ONE reset where I lost my gear (and we were told why on the foums).

All things considered the mod is actually really playable for an alpha release.

DayZ has been relatively ok for me. The occasional lag, and waiting for server response are the issues I've had.

TBH more issues with Arma itself, not the mod.

And the "waiting for server response" is easily addressable, servers just need to be restarted every few hours.

I wasn't trolling !

So I was playing and could never find a single zombie.

2 hours
6 hours
10 hours
20 hours

Ruining around towns looking for zombies but couldn't find any.
And when I commented about this in chat, people were like your trolling.

Well it turns out I had the Zombies turned off.
And when I found this out some things started to make sense.

Like a group of 3 survivors in a door way in Electro unloading clip after clip.
I thought they must have been shooting at a bandit I couldn't see.
But like 10-12 clips worth of bullets?
The first time I played with the zombies turned on I found myself stuck in the same door way.
After killing 15 zombies I ran out of bullets, still having 15 outside.

I remember players charging at me in game and not shooting ????
Now I know that they were running towards me but couldn't shoot because they were being chased by Zombies.

After turning them off again to double check.
I saw a guy standing in the middle of the street shooting nothing.
But looking closely I could see the blood puff coming from the zombie.
But there was no zombie on my screen.

So since I had no zombies to kill, I basically had to kill other players for something to do.
I'm now a -50,000 Bandit.
Had I had Zombies turned on from the start, I wouldn't have been running around with immunity killing people.
And would have wanted to team up as a survivor, cause damn those Zombies are a pain in the **** !

Well there is no absolution for me now....
A lone Bandit I am, a lone bandit I will remain.

So if you ever see people running around and Zombies just ignoring them.
Now you know why.

ps.
if this was already known about my bad.

He mentions CHKilroy's videos in the interview - they are absolute gold. Hilarious and terrifying - I can not recommend them enough.

I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about but zombies can't be "turned off", even if you can't see them then they're still going to rip you up if you're there, it sounds more like a weird lag issue.

No they can be turned off like a light bulb..

If turned off.
Say we walked down a street full of Zombies together.
You can see them, they can see you, they will attack and kill you.
But I can't see them and they can't see me.
All I see is you shooting at nothing and then dying.

But we can still see and kill each other normally.

I could tell you how to do it to prove it.
But then everyone will be doing it and its a cheat.

Haha, Best way to get good firearms :P Run quicker to areas ;D

Don't forget Nekosan, A lot of the stuff, like zombies is controlled by your PC.... not hard to bug the game out your end to make it easier.

Dont know whats going on on the server. #1 I get 3-5 fps (on a $7K PC)... On server two maxed everything I get 50-60 fps...something very strange going on.

Tis the latest patch Tas, something screwy in the code is causing an increasing fps loss the longer you play for, Rocket said he would hotfix today (may already have done it, I havent checked).
