Tomb Raider Reboot Delayed to 2013

Unread postby News Portal » 14 May 12, 1:58 pm

A statement on the official Tomb Raider blog has announced that the Crystal Dynamics reboot will slip to 2013 due to quality concerns. "The additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve," wrote studio head Darrell Gallagher. "We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait."

Never played a Tomb Raider game before and was keeping an eye on this one. Glad to see they're not rushing it and hope it turns out well.

Try Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Isometric top-down game, great puzzles, weapons and combat. Plus the PC version even has same-screen co-op too, something very rare, and it's only $15 on Steam!

I cried a little on the inside when I saw this on twitter :( really excited about this game. Oh well, it'll just make it that much sweeter when I get my mits on it.

I can't recommend Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light highly enough. One of the best co-op games of recent years and immensely good fun/value :)

It is a tad misleading to lump it in with 'Tomb Raider' as they are different (which is why TR does not appear in the title), not just in gameplay, but in sense that it is not a sequel but a spin-off (if that makes sense).

With that being said, it still fun times…

Yeah I always got the idea Guardian of Light was a co-op combat-heavy action game, as opposed to Tomb Raider's puzzly platformer style. I could be wrong of course, I actually do own Guardian of Light but just never played it...

Yeah, it's 100% puzzle/action, very little platforming. It has some neat platforming elements though, and you can stand on each others heads to cool stuff in the environment :)

Heh I can still remember the original TR hitting the shelves for the PS1. Damn it was a good game for it's time - seeing that T-Rex was both awesome and terrifying.

I never mind when devs come forward and say "you know what? it's just not good enough. so we're going to spend some more time on it. Trust us, it'll be worth it."
Who is their publisher?
Also Lara Croft Guardian of Light: yup. everything that has been said.
I sat down with my ladyfriend and played this on the couch co-op. Have not done any of that kind of co-op in a while.

Crystal Dynamics has done wonders on the Second era of Tomb Raider.
I say give them time to prefect the reboot.
