If you're still experiencing lockups, check the view distance in advanced graphics options. I noticed a significant improvement towards being smooth when I set that right down to '0' (even over '1'). Then I set everything else up to compensate. Not ideal, but it's why my game runs generally smoothly.

Well by the time it was downloaded I managed to get in half an hour or so before work, definitely pre-ordering today :)

It is obviously still buggy but it has a heap of potential. Love the setting, the interface is slick (most MMOs are usually years behind other games in this regard IMO) and seems to be quite story driven, from my limited experience.

Sold :)

I like how the levelling curve is flat.

By sunday, the cooldowns to the first quests I did had expired, so was able to go back and do things like shoot zombies for Boone, and bring ammo to Andy. They still gave me enough experience to level up as fast as I did at first.

So eventually I managed to unlock all of pistols and rifles (apart form one elite skill), half of shotguns, and a bit of magic to test some things.

Will be sticking to pistols/rifles at release.

How people finding this weekend? First time playing it for me and I must say, it's rather excellent for a new MMO. I really like the style of it, combat seems INCREDIBLY smooth which is something I haven't felt since WoW. Probably going to pick it up.

Final beta weekend this weekend before release, and four zones + all three starter areas are available to check out.

Funcom gave me a spare beta key to give to a friend, so does anyone want it?

Must profess your admiration for Kelly to receive key.

I think I'm going to sit out of the next beta and wait for early access. I already know I'm going to play it, so I'm going to wait until I can do it with my proper character.

That's why I sat out of the last one. I've seen enough to play post-release and don't really want to run even more of the quests twice.

I've done some of the Kingsmouth quests 4 times now

Anyone put any thought into the build they are going to go for? I was quite non-plussed with Chaos Magic so I think I'm going to go Shotgun/Elementalism.

I like the range and AOE skills for Rifles but I'm not entirely sure. Pistols either instead of or alongside them, perhaps?
Wasn't really impressed by the magic options I tried. Melee I might save for an alt... or for when I work out how to use the Decks system. If that makes it into the final game, so I can swap in and out of skill builds!

My rifle pistol build works really well.

I use the ground targeted pistol AoE (vigilante I think it is) to start to get damage ticking. Then I follow up with the rifle pistol shootout channel.

For rifle I use the grenade launcher a lot. Using the rifle lock and load can fire off two grenades in quick succession.

I don't actually use the rifle at range really. The grenade launcher has some very powerful single target skills, and when they're stacked with pistol single target it spikes really hard.

I did a melee build in the previous tests, focused on hammers. To be honest, it was pretty effective, but spectacularly repetitive and kinda boring. I'm thinking I'll switch out for ranged this time around, or spells.

I got bored of spamming the Blade AoE skill and diversified. But I guess with only a handful of skills available there's bound to be a bit of repetitiveness.
Think it'll be a case of finding a set of skills you don't mind spamming the **** out of.
