That doesn't make sense as if that was the case wouldn't the full book be 1200 pages not 900?

I shouldn't post late at night. I misread things lmao.

Another awesome ep.

Wondering how anyone would've been able to kill all those Dothraki (sp?) and get the dragons. Seems unlikely they'd be able to get away with it, since that scale of fighting would surely attract attention. Qarth has produced some excellent characters though. And the actress playing the wildling Jon caught is beautiful.

that door thing they went through made it seem like the place they were living was fairly well isolated. but you have a point. those dothraki would have been making a lot of noise.

was funny. one wildling was showing her outer beauty, and another was showing her inner beauty.

Hm which one was showing inner beauty? They both seemed to try and seduce their captors to get the upper hand, which the one in Winterfell certainly did. You can see the new wildling trying to manipulate Snow but I at least can't help but like her.

Occasionally it feels like this has the 'it happened off-screen' syndrome, particularly with battles (the taking of winterfell) but reflecting on it, it's probably a very wise tradeoff. While battles are awesome, they would've spent so much time just on the visuals when they have so much plot to cover in each episode. Although I assume later on there will be some larger, unavoidable fights which will get a decent amount of screentime.

Surprised there isnt more whinging as this episode in particular has taken a rather large departure from the book. Its still awesome IMO and what they've chosen to change has been clever. I don't remember the dragons getting stolen though, do I just have a bad memory?

No, your memory is fine, the dragons weren't stolen. I had to check the book to make sure, because I sure didn't remember that happening.

You mean like the fact that Rob wasn't already married when Catelyn returned? Wonder how they are going to work out the later scene. Though I guess we haven't really seen anything from River run either. Still can't believe they cut The Blackfish!

Also I'm guessing the dragons were stolen by the warlocks, just another way to get her to go there as opposed to the reason in the book.

Since someone has to **** about the changes:

Hidden: show
The only thing I'm really not liking so far that's different from the book is the removal of characters like the Reed siblings, I can't help but wonder if there's going to be a point where the tv series MASSIVELY goes in a different direction to the books simply because there are some characters that have been left out which (in the books) appeared to be rather important.

My overall fear there is that Martin is somewhat providing spoilers, maybe the characters that have been left out just don't turn out to be important in any way, and they'll just die off in the books.

It also leaves me wondering how they'll handle Bran's story now, he was meant to go north with the Reeds while the wildling went south with Rickon (and we haven't read any of his story yet after they split), how are they going to do that now?

I was also looking forward to Howland Reed fleshing out some backsory when he finally appeared :(, does the crannogmen's removal mean that the tower of joy and the events with Lyanna were just a **** red herring? Because with Eddard dead and Howland removed there's nobody left to tell of what happened inside, at the end there was only Arthur Dayne, Stark and Reed and Howland is assumed to have killed Dayne ("Arthur Dayne was the greatest swordsman I ever saw, he would have killed me if not for Howland Reed") that means the story can never be fleshed out in the tv series and it was shaping up to be one of the lynchpins of the whole series.

Regarding this weeks episode:

Hidden: show
Am I the only one who thought something just felt wrong about this week? I really felt like both Theon and Qhorin Half-hand either had TERRIBLE dialogue or delivery (not sure which)in all their parts this episode, the first 2/3 of the ep almost felt like a HUGE drop in quality (though it picked back up and ended well) compared to previous episodes.

That riot in Kings Landing was really not what I was expecting either, i was really looking forward to seeing how they were going to do KL in general but so far it's been 100% restricted to close angle shots of high walls, the city has no character and no life.

I'm the same as Auld when it comes to the dragons, I remember Dany visiting the warlocks but not the dragons being stolen, from memory Pyat Pree was the one who found them in the desert and she just agreed to visit.

Last two episodes have put me too much in mind of the books - where it seems like it's building to something but never quite gets there. They've been really good at avoiding that for most of the season so far, hoping it's rectified next week.

tbh, after reading the book... it doesnt really go anywhere. Its a good story, but doesnt seem to have an 'ending', only a leading onto the next book.

But you'd expect that in a huge book series.

Edit: Thats not saying i dont enjoy the book and tv show, because i do. While a good story, it feels kinda shallow and without meaning.
