Farscape and season end cliffhangers

After missing so much of Farscape when it was on television i finally got around to watching it, bought the DVD set.

Just finished watching Season 2, just damn! I've already watched 3 episodes today, now i feel i need to watch more cause that was one hell of a cliffhanger.

John lying as a vegetable on an ops table, Erin dead, everyone leaving Moya and Jothee (sp?) cracking onto Pip, comeon, your Dad rescues you now you wanna steal his girl after making him feel like poop?

But to the other part of the discussion, i've watched a few series as of late, only realising now that 99% of series put in cliffhangers at the end of a season! I'm very glad that i tend to watch everything years later, have different tastes to my friends so never hear of anything and just buy the whole box sets so i dont have to wait 6 months to 1 year to see what happens.

Anyone else finding this?

No spoilers, but I really hated the S4 cliffhanger. Mainly because I thought the Peacekeeper Wars mini-series that continued it was downright average compared to the rest of the show. I'm not sure if that S4 cliffhanger was written and shot before they knew they were cancelled, but it felt really cheap throwing it on there :\ The rest of the show was absolutely brilliant though.

And cliffhanger endings have been around for quite a while lol. They're an 'easy' way to hype people for not only the season finale (What will happen?!) but also the the next season's opener (Find out what happened!). I've noticed alot more shows tend to do mid-season cliffhangers now though, since networks like to split seasons around rating periods.

I think it was all planned out to have a season 5 but then it got cancelled so they had to scrap it all. Then they got new funding a few years later and made the PK wars out of it. I agree it's not great but at least it's an ending

Farscape! grouse show. I bought all the DVD's about 2 years ago & have wanted to watch it all again sometime, once i finish watching BSG again. And yeah you are right Vid, i think it was on the DVD special features they said PK wars was demanded by fans to have an ending since season 5 got scrapped.

I think i saw the PK Wars years ago but thought it was just another episode really far down the line in the Farscape series.

So as i can't remember it for jack, would it have been better to maybe do a movie, more akin to a pilot than a movie, to tie off the series?

I was kinda hoping for that with the end of Atlantis, watched the 2nd last episode going this is awesome! Then i saw the final, and went and bought a bottle of jacks.

I used to love me some farscape on tv back in the day, last episode i saw was teh finale where squid face guy got airlocked or his helmet broke out in space or something, i missed a few months (or years) and when i tried to watch again everything was so different it scared me off.

The PK Wars were 2 2hr movie things that rounded out the end. It was okay but you can't fit 20 hours of series 5 into 4 hours of movie.

And Nekosan, yeah that was a problem with Farscape, if you missed some it was hard to get back into. And channel 9 really **** it over (editing M rated eps into G timeslots thus cutting a quarter of the episode, changing timeslots without warning etc) But I recommend going through it again now as it has long finished.

Just finished watching all series and the PK wars.

Definitely boosted to one of my all time fav sci fi series, wish they had've kept up production, whilst the PK wars did round it out well, would've been so much cooler to see a few more seasons.

They killed Dargo, wtf!? I was rooting for him to get a new version of Lola, maybe even steal Jothies? Woman stealin mofo that he was!

Would've been awesome to see what was happening on Hyneria, or maybe even a full season on the PK wars with some sweet space battles, love the opening sequence of the first PK movie.

im very close to watching through farscape again. but i did do it last year. might need to wait a bit longer

might go through BSG first
