I just can't help thinking that Track IR would make things so much easier, looking around in MFS feels awkward :/

Oh it would be better for sure, but I have gotten quite used to using the mouse now, in the vid I posted last page I am looking all via mouse.

If you want to try something, have a look at this - FaceTrackNOIR http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/home/default.htm

Requires a decent webcam (eg 30fps or more) but no IR devices. I have it installed, but havent played about with it really yet. Did see soem vids of it working not too bad, would be one you need to tweak lots I think.

*EDIT* BTW, bind the SHIFT+O cmd in FSX to a button on your stick.. this then allows you to turn mouse look on or off, without having to hold down space.

Surprised I remembered most of the controls, only thing I forgot first try was switching between mounted gun / vikhr missles or rocket pods. And raising landing gear but AI reminds me of that :P
Bs1 is compatible with FC2 which does does have a great variety of birds and is a lot of fun.
And the lack of complex weapons system in the mustang is like a summer breeze, rewarding from the get go, but managing the energy equation with the mustang will take some practice... and that damn AI knows all the tricks lol.

I use freetrack, very good software and only requires reflective surfaces and a good quality webcam to work in 2dom; I use it for my sims and arma2 and by just attaching a well placed refective sphere to my headset you get 2 degrees of movement, add in the led's and you get the full 6dom.

cheers :)

I'll check that out when I get home, Track IR is just a bit pricy for my budget at the moment.. what do you use as the reflective sphere though?

actually i streamed that entire flight, i think one person watched the entire thing >.< including my terribad landing

I'll do another tomorrow night in the A380 again, still got a couple of things to test out and practice my landing a bit more. having an fully automated flight system is very different to my standard auto pilot

I use a piece of my wifes broken jewelery attached to a length of heavy insulated wire which is then attached to a rubber stopper using a cable tie; does require a light source behind the webcam and the cam I use is an old school orangemicro Ibot.
Not all webcams give good results and like all homebrew solutions it's a matter of trial and error; others use reflective tape on a bead and if you want the full movement your best building an led array but the extra wires required to power the unit didn't suit my needs as I only really wanted the 2dom as I use the slider on my throttle to zoom in/out

Saitek X-52 Pro, has a separate throttle with LCD display and programmable buttons (I've never used the last two on my stock X-52). Twist throttle for ruddering. Excellent mid-level stick, I think they're around $200-$250?

not a bad stick the x52-pro; very comfortable and it does have a very light touch to it which I like, but not to everyones taste so worth trying before you buy.
Top line sticks will be almost 3 times the price.

cheers :)
