Next Company of Heroes Game Info Leaked

This new info will excite some fans more than the new Elder Scrolls MMO: also leaked today is a new image scanned from PC Gamer showing what would have been the announcement of Company of Heroes 2. Details are scarce, but the original poster on the NeoGAF forums does list a few key features. The game is due for release in 2013, and the main campaign will be the Eastern Front, playing as the Russians. Unsurprisingly, there will be lots of snow, which will be part of a new mechanic to slow down troops, but also part of the updated cover system. Check out the original post over here.

The amount of hours I spent in Company of Hours 1 was insane. The cinematic shots leave much to be desired, but the gameplay is bloody solid. Love it, Day one purchase regardless of price for me!

I'm actually a bit dissapointed. I love CoH but to me it felt practically perfect with very very little room to expand. I would've rathered see DoW3 or Homeworld 3 before a new CoH tbh.

Yep - Would have preferred Homeworld 3 as well, but it's Relic - they don't make bad games. More than happy to see a new CoH - hopefully they are doing a lot more with a sequel than letting troops jump over walls and have snow slow you down. It's time for some significant gameplay / graphics additions, guys.

Although it's undeniably impressive, you've been milking the Essence Engine with few changes for a while now - CoH, Opposing Front, Tales of Valor, DoW II, Chaos Rising, Retribution...

The jump from DoW to DoW2 was pretty impressive. I'm hoping for a visual jump of similar proportions with this.

Technically:

DoW to CoH was impressive. Engine change and complete overhaul of a lot of the engine's capability.

CoH to DoW2 was the opposite, visually it was still some improvement but in other ways it was a downgrade as they streamline a lot of things.

And through ALL titles, they shared the same weakness... horrid pathfinding which was never fixed till today in Retribution still.

So here's hoping that they actually do noticeable improvement, rather than the CoH->DoW2 improvement which some of us don't consider improvement at all but rather a downgrade.

And for the love of god, i sincerely hope they have a better pathfinding for once

Ah...I don't believe I ever made a comparison between CoH to DoW2.

I'm saying that I hope the jump in visuals/gameplay is as noticeable for CoH -> CoH2 as it was from DoW -> DoW2.

the reason i put that comparison is because CoH engine and mechanic is pretty much what DoW2 is based upon...

The jump was greatest from DoW to CoH, after that it was just improvement steps (and in some part downgrade) going from CoH to DoW2.

Whatever CoH2 ends up with in turn will then most likely be the base from which DoW3 is based upon and so on and so forth.

So it NEEDS to be a good improvement since we can't expect too much improvement going to DoW3.

Issues only really existed for longrange path finding, didnt have so much trouble short range, just required a little extra micro management.
I'd like a decent waypoint/patrol system in a rts for once, turn to face enemy, engage, pursuit distance, halt if minefield(trap), reverse on disengage, resume patrol...
Or atleast a face/engage/radio to base group # engaged.
