So they're moving the DB server off the old NZ server, and then it will be back, with very limited capacity?

So then, so far we're looking at maybe 25-30 slot server in a week perhaps?

BTW, it wasn't 180GB a week, it was 186GB in a single day! I doubt even the NZ server would last long with that kind of usage.

We'd have plenty of servers and willing providers I think, if the bandwidth requirements weren't so high. They just need to optimize the mod as top priority and these problems will then fix themselves. LOL at the guy risking his job trying to run it off a server at work. Known a few people who lost their jobs for doing that.

It's a shame telcos in Aus wont get their thumbs out their asses and take away usage caps. If they don't do it after NBN I'll be rather upset. :x

Arma is just so damn resource hungry!!! Can't imagine what ArmA 3 will be like, hopefully a bit more optimised. Maybe BIS have changed from booze to dope or acid, we'll get some interesting results in the coding then. :58_68:
8-)

I wonder if GoN could be convinced into hosting a server? I mean they are part of an ISP and all.

I doubt it, since the developers need remote access to the server..

Which GoN wouldn't be able to provide, that's unfortunate.

What have you got against BattleEye?

Nothing other than it kicks me from the server as soon as I connect. Ive been chatting with battleye tech support and so far it seems to be a problem with the BoB routers. Another guy in AUS is emailing him with the same problem.

Was really random how it stopped working. I was playing Dayz one night, went to bed and tried to play in the morning but kept getting kicked. Was so happy when the AEF guys put up there server.

yeah i was thinking aboot it for server #2
and talking to splatt aboot it the other day
untill he said (and i later read ) that they need access
which is unfortunate

perhaps if / when they release a stable beta they might drop that requirement , as the only reason i saw their need for that was to update files themselves as they can do 10 updates in one day)

Do you think it would be possible to host a server if I could talk the devs into dropping the requirement for an Australian server?

it would be pointless at the moment anyhoo
with the rate they update the files

even weekly updates would be a pain in the arse
