It's not necessarily just demons. The first few seasons had a clear "Monster of the week" format.
As well as demons it's all sorts of creatures from werewolves, changelings, vampires, and a *lot* more based on various lores etc.

I love how it is so .. out there - innocent people die, the good guys don't always win, etc etc, admittedly I lost interested after Season 5, but I've been watching it anyway and it's just now starting to pick up IMO at the end of Season 7.

If you haven't watched it, do yourself a favour and find the first season and watch it.

They also have some interesting theories on angels vs demons and heaven as well.

I lost count of the number of times they've died and come back to life though. They should be all like "bow down before me angles, 'cas we both Jesus's."

EDIT: Actually, at this point it wouldn't surprise me if one of them actually did turn out to be Jesus.
