Internet plans

Unread postby Jonkhorn3 » 26 Apr 12, 12:25 pm

Hi guys just looking for some advise with a new internet connection.

Prior to moving into this house (they had the same plan) I was on the 150gb/$60mth contract with internode and it was fine :) but the situation changed and we have to move out and that means signing up again for new internet (sigh!). I straight away went to sign back up on the old plan I was on but ive noticed its dropped from 150gb to 30gb... so im sorry but node is a no go for me at the moment. Me and my partner are both full time students and she is doing online univeristy for net is a must.

Are there any plans out there that will give a decent data allowance at reasonable pricing? iinet have a $70 for 100gb node $80 for 200gb and I would like to go with them considering ive had no problems. The problem is the costs, I can go with someone like dodo or tpg and get bigger allowance for quite a lot cheaper (shorter contracts/no contracts incase we have to move once more).

Is there anyone I should be looking at or do I just have to bite the bullet and try save up for a better connection? (mixed reviews from whirlpool on tpg/dodo).

Thanks,

Jon :)

I'd suggest you phone Internode sales dept. and explain your situation, they maybe able to let you keep your grandfathered plan.

You can change premises and keep the same plan at the same Price Point ;) (contact Internode for more details).

Simon Hackett wrote:Hi everyone,

We've just relaxed our existing policy on relocating grandfathered DSL plans, and I wanted to share that policy change with you all.

As of now, grandfathered (i.e. no longer offered) plans may now be retained across relocations if the customer wishes to do so, providing only that the plan concerned is technically feasible to deliver in the new location.

(Where 'technically feasible' includes 'the appropriate type of DSL ports exist in the new location to make it possible to deploy the existing plan family in the new location at all', and also 'The plan is not a super-large quota plan that is not otherwise available to anyone in the new location, due to backhaul or port type limitations that apply to all new plans in that location')

In other words, this is policy is not a mechanism to be used to usurp technical limitations that otherwise apply to delivering that plan in the new location.

Its simply intended to let people keep a specific plan/price/quota combination they have now, providing it isn't otherwise bending the (technical) deployment rules in the new location to deliver that plan.

Also, if customers who requested a relocation on or after 1st January 2012 wish to call up and ask to be put back on their previous grandfathered plan as a result of this change in policy, then you can do that too: Just call up during sales team operating hours and ask nicely, and we can arrange an appropriate scheduled plan change for you, which will then apply from your next monthly rollover date.

Regards,
Simon

Little bit confused about the whole relocation thing so ill try explain myself a bit better :D

We had a node account at house 1, had to cancel that because the place we moved into, house 2 (shared house) had the same plan as we did so no point paying for 2 connections :P but now we are having to move out to house 3 and need a internet connection.

It would be nice to ring up and just start up my account again considering the place we are moving into after the house 3 will be long term and will need good net.

bleh! wish i could have just kept my account! Ive also seen a company called mynetfone... had never heard of them before today >.< so many choices now!

+1 for Adam.

Atleast 4-5 years with them, with no issues- apart from their provided router being a piece of **** (well, I've heard alot are anyway).
