Bahahahaha, the graphics are completely different. I suspect you will need AT LEAST SLi GTX680's to run this anywhere near maxed out. I'll need 3 so I can run my Surround setup at max and destroy my eyesight.

Arma 2 has a free to play model. I recommend trying it out if you can find a decent server.

My friend and I will often play Arma 2 or AO, just the two of us. We usually play the default "Capture the town - get money" mode, getting bigger and better vehicles and AI Squad mates as we go until eventually one of us gets board and decides to TK the other or we screw around in the helicopters for a while or see how many AC130's we can pile up on the end of the runway.

We won't mind if a few newby's decide to join us; between us we've got a fairly good understanding of how the game works from commanding AI to building bases and we don't take it too seriously. We've find playing online can be quite scary with different servers having vastly different modes and mods. Most players are friendly and helpful but some are down right rude jerks, intolerant of anybody who might have no idea what they are doing. If you'd like to arrange a time to join us you'd be most welcome.

The Internode community are usually very friendly however some regulars have an elitist attitude about them. You can't do anything about that, it's the nature of this kind of niche game. Just remember to be sure to apologise if you accidentally team kill them.

Arma 3, well, I've not seen anything I like about it. Don't bet me wrong, there's nothing I don't like, it just looks like more Arma. That's not a bad thing, but to me, it's a neutral thing. I'm happy for people who like it, to me, I'll probably get it one day when it's cheap. I'm not hanging out for it.

Obviously you don't understand that the whole point of ArmA is to be elitist? It's not a game designed for kiddies or CoD-players it's for people who want a close to reality warfare experience.

The free-to-play model has bought people to the game but it's really not designed for people who cannot grasp the concept behind it as being a tactical warfare game, not CoD or BF.

If it involves airlifting APC's into battle, I'm there. Still remember the first time i saw Ball pick up an APC and carry it through the air with me looking out the side window, watching it dangle via the cable, with my jaw on my keyboard.

Yes, if you ever play please please please put some time into learning how to identify by uniforms, weapons and vehicles which side someone's on. Both at day and at night. Quite a few frustrating experiences when I'd walk around a corner, identify a noob on my side and have them stare at me for a few seconds before shooting me :|

I do like how it can be a bit ambiguouse at times as to what side someone's on though. Keeps you on your toes.

oh and doesnt support mods (which just happens to be one of the things that makes arma good)

tho i could be wrong aboot the campaign, it still has single player and multi player missions tho

I'm thinking about it, but looks rather technical.

I can assure you the graphics are completely different, and improved. Even though it make look similar, with the new Directx11 Rendering, it enables vast improvements on the engine without doing anything. i.e OA running on a Directx11 Renderer will look much more crisp and be more smooth than the DX9 renderer. I believe they still haven't tapped into DX10/DX11 features yet, so when they start working on that, expect to see even more improvements.

Remember it's only April and the game isn't scheduled til Q4, which is Oct, Nov, Dec this year, so still lots of development time to go. Including a public Alpha and Beta. :)
