Thats a reasonable price if it's in superb condition (I picked up an immaculate one for $100 a couple of years ago for a mate)

If you get a chance to test it out, check the control knobs (pots) for scratchy noises coming through when turned on. Also ask if there are any buzzing frets. Sometimes this is due to being poorly setup or more often fretwear.

This is what fretwear looks like...

I know it's only a cheap guitar....but there's no reason it can't still be a good cheap guitar.

The reason I 'want' a new guitar is because my current guitar has buzzing frets :( It really kills my desire to practice, but by the same token I don't want to spend a lot of money.

Interesting...

When my bank cuts the interest rate, i receive a letter stating they will reduce the mortgage payment in not less than 2 months.

When they raise the rate, it is applicable the next month. I wonder if the rate of my investments (with same bank) will also rise :|

Good Thanks

nowhere near enough information. Some squiers can be purchased brand new for almost that and some can be worth far more...

that's often a setup issue, have you ruled that out?

You know petrol is getting expensive when a selling point for a motor bike from a dealer is that it comes with a full tank of petrol

Negative, I actually don't know that much but what I was able to find out suggested it was because the strings were too close to the frets, which they are on the neck :/

Unsure how I'd fix that.. >.<

could be as simple as adjusting the bridge/saddle heights, slightly more difficult would be requiring a truss rod adjustment, even more difficult would be getting the frets levelled and then after all that it'd be just about beyond repair.

I just realised how much the lead singer of Aqua sounds like Leliana. Same lisp.

yeah easy fix would be to adjust the string heights by raising the bridge. there'd be 2 screws there somewhere on the sides of the bridge that you can use to adjust the height. might need an Allan key

@cyclobs hehe I bet. That was just whatever pic I could find on the net that showed some fretwear :P

@Disco LT Maybe instead of buying a new guitar perhaps you should just get the one you have professionaly setup to get rid of any buzzy frets. Or give it a go yourself.

The last bass I bought needed new strings and a setup so I just took it to Steve Salvi (Adelaide). He leveled off the frets because they had only slight wear, restrung it and set it up nicely for $100 (I supplied the strings of course)
