Unread postby Matty » 16 Apr 12, 2:10 pm

Welcome guys to the first GON Olympics organised by Tera! To take some weight off his shoulders I have offered to help with the Team Fortress 2 event.
Official thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=194026&p=2586136#p2586136

Results!!

1st Blue
2nd Green
3rd Red
4th Yellow

Game recap.
Preliminary - Yellow/Green
First map lakeside: Yellow got off to a playing start with a 2-0 lead, but green came back to win the match 3 to 2.
Upward: Yellow got off to a great start again attacking with a first cap of 1:46 but was met with green defense in the tunnel thus green winning defense.
Green won offense by sneaking in the first point cap under time.

Preliminary - Red/Blue

Bronze - Red/Yellow

Gold - Blue/Green
Blue off the a great start, winning Granary 2 - 0
Lakeside was very close, often going down to the second. after 2 all was reached, the decided games went to Blue.

Well done guys, I know everyone of my games were super close. Excellent excellent game everyone.

Thank you all for turning up and play, I think it is safe to say everyone had a ball. Sorry to the guys who couldn't make it for circumstances out of anyone control :(

Was a great match on all accounts and a well deserved gold for Blue.

Cheers to Tera, Bickety, Cozi, Hydra and Cas who helped set things up and get them organised. Was a super game and we definitely have to organise another one.

And thanks to everyone who participated and the reserved jumping in at late notice!

Cheers guys!
Matty

Update
Cozi has been super nice and set up a TeamSpeak server for us here.
viewtopic.php?f=292&t=194139

There is a general channel as well as channels for certain games. If you wish to use it, it is all outlined in the thread.

UPDATE!
Bicketybam has gone above and beyond to give us and set up 2 TF2 servers for the night so we can run the games side by side.

They are servers #2 and #3.
So for the night

7pm Sharp - Red/Blue: Server #2
7pm Sharp - Green/Yellow: Server #3

Finals: Server #2
Bronze: Server #3

Server #2: 203.26.94.71:27015
Server #3: 203.26.94.72:27015

UPDATE

We have a server! Bicketybam went out of his way to research and setup a server for us so a big thanks to him :)
Now get in there for some practice guys!
http://games.on.net/gameservers.php?id=230

I shall be creating a steam group this evening.
Update
Steam group http://steamcommunity.com/groups/GoNlympics_tf2
Please join for communication convenience :)

Starting SUNDAY 22nd APRIL - COMMENCING FROM 7PM AEST

7pm - Sydney, Melbourne, Queensland
6:30pm - Adelaide
5pm - Perth
(I'm pretty sure that's correct but double check, I am horrible with time zones)

Teams
7 vs 7 highlander
4 teams
Tournament style face-off

Game Specific Rules
-No random criticals.
-No damage spread.

Maps
Best of 3 maps

pl_upward
This will use the ABBA stopwatch model
Team A attacks, Team B defends. Winner is awarded 1 point.
Team B attacks, Team A defends. Winner is awarded 1 point.
If a 1-1 situation occurs, one more round is played, the winner of this wins the map.
Teams A and B have been randomly chosen. (I flipped a coin). For the final tournament game, I shall again flip another coin to determine the attacking and defending team.

cp_granary - First to 2 or highest score in a 30 min time limit

koth_lakeside - first to 3. This will go ahead if both teams have won a map each (essentially it is the decider in result of a tie)

Server rules
This game still upholds to the Games.on.net server rules. If you are caught breaking the rules, you will be kicked from the match (and possibly banned from Games.on.net servers in the future.

For a general general rules: http://games.on.net/pages.php?page=rules
For TF2 specific rules: viewtopic.php?f=208&t=131280

That would be great, as I have spent most of my hours in TF2 playing the CTF maps, so I will need to get up to speed on these :)

Btw.. Go Team Yellow! 8)

Even if we lose, I'll write an article saying that we won. So, you know. Our victory is assured.

I only have one question though: what timezone is this 7PM for?
