Equipment matters little in BF3.
You can do perfectly fine with just the starter weapons.

Therefor, those shortcut packs are merely an additional option for players with a big purse and little time.

Personally I couldn't care less about it, as that pack is utterly useless to me.

1. Quite a bit too expensive
2. It basically removes your ability to unlock new weapons, which is part of the fun (while it lasts)
3. By now every half-serious gamer has already unlocked everything in BF3 anyway. So this package is only feasible to people who started really late with the game.
4. People still have to get used to their weapons to be good with them, having all at the start only makes that harder (or atleast more frustrating for them)

Also just because you guys play for the unlocks doesn't mean that everyone does.

i bought the ultimate pack and im extremely happy. I cbf grinding for hrs, when i unlock something for real it still pops up. the new sniper weapons are nice, and my jet/tank+heli scores have improved. I cant play for long periods 1. i dnt have the time and 2. my left hand (keyboard) cramps up after an hr after i broke it when i was young (im right handed). same on consoles, it goes numb ;( so although i love gaming i cant do it for long periods, so the short cut kit to me was worth the money, my enjoyment increased exponentially.

whether you have time to grind/play through all the unlocks or not, giving EA this much money will only encourage them to go furthur next time.

well to be factual, it didnt even start wth bf3, it started with medal of honor 2010,(2009?) so it probably proved a financial success for them with moh and then they applied it to bf3. and regardless, most of the hardcore players have the unlocks, what difference does it make? if u dont want to buy it, dont. its not being forced on u

ok. What is wrong with EA making money? Why is this viewed as objectively bad?

The quality of the games and quality of titles they support has dramatically improved in the past few years. Five years ago EA just bought an IP and flogged it to death - they seem to have had an epiphany where they've realised they have to make decent games and continue to support them if they want to have a player base that will continue to buy.

The qq about origin and bf3 hate I simply don't get. Origin has never given me issues and bf3 is awesome. It is simply an awesome game. Wth is wrong with it?

It actually started with BFBC2.

its all about skill.

Well said, and Joe probably started with a shite guitar and worked his way up. :)

im not against ea making money, and the unlock kit.
its just more fun to do it yourself.

Personally I think this game would have benefitted without all the unlocks

Nobody ever winged about the range of guns available in bf2 (3 or 4 per kit), they just wanted more maps ! And most people are seen using the top 3-4 guns anyway.

To add to that all Dice are doing is creating more work for themselves by trying to balance them all in game which will never happen.
