Hey there guys, I'm i26r_Kipz, officially known as that annoying #14 guy (server renames have rendered my clantag obsolete) and unofficially as the clan leader for #14's clan.

I've been playing HC HQ on games.on.net servers since release, and I've been thinking about posting a petition up on the forums for a while now, so I finally got around to do it during a particularly horrible Killhouse round.

Some maps are just not designed for objective-based gameplay. games.on.net #18 doesn't use Shipment specifically due to how spammy and non-gametype appropriate the map is, and I put it to the admins to extend that map lockout to at least one, if not several maps.

The list is as follows.

These first two maps are definite removals, due to broken map design and/or bad HQ locations.

Killhouse - worst map for HQ since Shipment, quite possibly worse due to flimsy wooden walls.

Countdown - one of (if not the worst) map in the game at this time, it is way too exposed for fair HQ play.

The rest are up to how the general populace feels about how they play. I'd be happy with those first two removed but I'm only one person.

Wet Work - one of my favourite maps, but still not gametype-appropriate. The map is long and disjointed, meaning that whichever side the HQ spawns on will almost always get it, leading to a back-and-forth between teams that is not fair.

Bloc - highly exposed HQ positions, plenty of sniping spots and low cover make this map difficult at times.

Bog - this map is balanced in my opinion, but some people may think it's a bit overexposed (especially in the cargo container HQ)

Pipeline - in theory this map is a good one for HQ or objective-based gametypes, but awkward and overexposed HQ positioning makes it a so-so map.

Creek - very sniper-friendly, this map is not conducive to good competitive HQ play.

Well, I'll leave the topic open for discussion. If you have some input on which maps you'd like to see removed from the rotation, comments on particular map mechanics, or anything at all, feel free to post.

As a regular player on the #18 HQ server, I support kipz in the removal of bad HQ maps.

Adding a map, I'd forgotten all about it until it came up and practically everyone on the server went "Oh, no...not this again"

Downpour - bad map design coupled with overexposed HQ locations and plain non-competitive atmosphere make this a bad HQ map.

You'll probably recognize me if you spend much time on that server. But anyway.

Killhouse is a dreadful map, it's just not possible to sit on the hq for long enough to capture it... and even if you do manage it, expect a hail of grenades and LMG fire to cut you down within a few seconds.

I don't like creek either, it's just too open. That waterfall hq is impossibly difficult to capture and the one in the cave makes me rage like little else.

I think Bloc is OK, the buildings do provide ample cover. You can camp in a building if you want but eventually the screwy HQ spawns are going to stick an enemy right up your jacksie.

countdown and bog both have one horrid hq (center for countdown, container for bog) but i don't think they're bad enough to say that they need to be removed. cod4 doesn't have many maps and if these 2 were removed then we're not left with a very big rotation.

there's absolutely nothing wrong with downpour imo (am i the only person who likes that map?), and if pipeline was removed i'd probably break something.

wetwork is a fail of a map, wouldn't miss this one at all. probably wouldn't miss showdown either but i can survive with it there. actually, i really really wouldn't miss showdown. dodgey map :?

there are a few changes going on in node with people leaving and others moving up so as soon as things become more clear to us we will remove killhouse for you just be a little patient please.

Geoff is correct, if you don't give players the option of voting to "remove nothing" then it is a biased poll from the outset. Players are then either given a choice of voting for maps they don't want to remove, or players don't vote and both options lead to a stacked result.

A fair poll, would have only allowed for 1-2 votes per person, and had all options included.
