The top caption reads: "Complains on forums when prices are higher or can't access games"

The bottom caption reads: "Questions why story about region locking and inevitable high prices is news"

I think its news because in GW1 you could join any server with you character. So it would of been expected that in GW2 you could do the same.

I don't think it matters to us anyway, i can't see anyone wanting to jump onto an EU server because of high ping.

Australian Latency would suck for alot of this game might not be about money.

It might be about quality of play experience.

And you still can.

And don't worry -- we want you to play with your friends wherever you are. This policy only affects where you can login from -- not which worlds you can access. People from NA will be able to play with people from EU at launch. We've got two datacenters -- one in NA and one in EU. Those who do not fall into either of those two regions will default to the NA datacenter.

This is great news!

I for one will be so glad to be price gouged by the publisher/distributor once again - because I know they only have my best interests at heart.

So We'll pay more for inferior gameplay because the servers are geographically distant.

Was keeping an eye on this but now I'll just write it off like other MMO's

I'm sure we'll still be able to buy direct from NCSoft at USA prices, afaik. Just euro's and Americans won't be able to play with each other.

I haven't seen anything which says there'll be a separate Australian version of the game. Just that Australians will receive the American game.

Blood sucking parasites

I for one will not be paying "Australian Prices" for any game, anytime.

I have not bought a game from an Australian Retailer or any company which forces "Australian prices" in over a decade.

Do the right thing people, DON'T BUY GAMES AT "AUSTRALIAN PRICES"

Only by boycotting these types of scams can we change the parasitic business model these leeches bloat themselves on.

Question to Australians.....isn't your bum sore from so much banging?

No I take it in the face like a woman.
Where do you buy your games from then?
TBH, I buy "Australian prices" out of convenience. Have money, will pay.

I pay Australian prices at retailers too. There'd be a hell of a lot of people out of work if we all stopped buying from retailers here.

Is that what you want?

If, for example, EB Games said "We will only sell games at US Equivalent prices" then i'm pretty sure that prices would change simply because otherwise their choice is to not sell games to EB, which means they would miss out on a hell of a lot of sales and advertising that EB Does.

Just need some companies with balls that look out for consumers, not ones that want to line their pockets. (Note: this comment isn't directed specifically at EB, they're just one of the biggest)

Cyrinno wrote:It's like this because the probably want proper amount sof money for their games, not really about going after aussies. Because their game isn't going to have a subscription fee, if people start importing super cheap copies it could cost them money to actually sell you the game.

Lets think about your statement "If people start importing super cheap copies". Where do these "super cheap copies" come from? other countries right? and how do they get them for so cheap? because they are sold a lot cheaper there. Yes - the company selling the game WANTS to sell the game for less to these overseas countries.

If they sold the game for equivalent prices overseas as they did in Australia, then all these "importing games" businesses would go broke almost overnight - instead, they're thriving with new ones popping up daily.

Completely forgot pre-orders were up today. The Digital Deluxe looks pretty shithouse though, if it was an extra $10 then ok, but +$20?? All you get are some consumable items, a minipet and an elite pet summon. Not worth it for me, I've unlocked all the extras in my Hall of Monuments from GW1 anyway, which includes the Black Widow pet.

If you're buying direct from the official site then it's actually a pre-PURCHASE. As in, you pay for it now and they deliver it whenever they decide it's ready for release. ;)

Apparently you can also upgrade to the digital deluxe from the standard edition if you decide you want the extra bits and bobs.
If I end up buying it I'll spring for the extras because if I end up playing it a lot, or playing multiple characters, it's nice to have free things. :D
