My friends make me play magic the gathering every now and then so i ended up googling a life regen deck - im going to try for something like that in this, heaps of life while I blast the enemy with magic

Anyway, within the next week or so they'll be letting people 'preorder' microtransactions to get beta access.

I think the way it will work is you put down a small amount of money, and in return receive a beta key + that money converted to cash shop items when the game goes live.

(And they are using a cash shop because it's a F2P game.)

You can already see the button in the beta client where you'd open up the cash shop, it's just greyed out. Keep hoping they'll enable it in the next patch so I can see what sort of stuff they're going to offer...

Didn't get a chance to play in any of the other weekend events but did start a Hardcore Marauder. Really needs a big two handed weapon to smash things with but I can never find anything suitable.

You could use life leech.

life leach doesnt work with spells

if it does, it just turned firestorm into even more op, since it hits a target once every 0.15 seconds...reminds me of having a life leech amazon in d2 that stole 100% life per click

There are support gems that attach life and mana leech to spells I'm pretty sure. Haven't tested them myself, but they're in there. Don't see why they wouldn't work.

On the plus side the shared stash makes it a bit easier to take. I have a full rare item upgrade path up to level 20 now because I just bank the rare items after I've finished with them.

This is the whole reason i haven't bothered to play PoE (and action rpgs are prolly my fav genre).
No dedicated servers = no play for me.

They do have dedicated servers.

From the FAQ:

Free to play on online servers with persistent character storage in a secure economy.

And you can see that you are playing on the same server as everyone else due to the in game chat system, and the fact that everyone is in the same town instance.

The lag is usually unnoticeable. Hardcore lag deaths however is an issue that you kindof just have to accept, as it's affected everyone since the invention of hardcore.

Having a dedicated server won't stop the occasional spike.

And PoE's system is at least a little forgiving, since Hardcore characters just drop to the Default league, rather than becoming unusable.
I've very rarely noticed any lag with the game. More likely to get a random disconnect than any lag, I've found.

I always delete my HC character on death rather than play with default.

Default encourages completely different playstyles and builds, and the chat's different as well.
