Free Copies of The Witcher? Yes, Please, CD Projekt Red!

Unread postby News Portal » 4 Apr 12, 2:12 pm

Head of marketing for CD Projekt Red, Michal Platkow-Gilewski, has revealed to Eurogamer that it plans to give away an unspecified "legendary" RPG on GOG.com tomorrow. While it doesn't specifically say they're giving away [app=539]The Witcher[/app], it seems unlikely, given their catalogue of developed games, that there are many other possibilities. It also should be noted that, apparently, this "legendary" giveaway is not related to the "extraordinary" annoucement CD Projekt Red have been dangling like a carrot in front of us. Intrigue!

Me too :D.

I think game developers that have at least one non-game source of income have the right idea: CD Projekt Red - gog.com, Epic - Unreal Engine, Valve - Steam.

They will give away a free game, if it is The witcher it wont matter to me as I already have the game but I reckon I can get a friend into the game if its free.

Excellent, now those few holdouts I know who refuse to buy it will have no more excuses!

And maybe I might finally get around to finishing it!

Free Fallout 1 on GOG for the next 48 hours, but the site went down like a ton of bricks as soon as they announced it. Other stuff too, but that's the important and time sensitive thing.

Therutler - you mentioned other stuff too. I've grabbed Fallout and checked the "free games" catalogue, and that seems to be it.

Nobody else is reporting anything extra (apart from the launch of the new look site, and the renaming from "Good old Games" to just "GoG" to reflect that they're now also selling new games).
