Ocean house was awesome. Also bugger off to the ME3 thread with your spoilers damnit, it's there for a reason :P

Is the AoE online thing any good or is it kinda ****? Mates have been playing AoE 2 online recently but its a hassle with the frequent crashing etc

Don't click to reveal if you don't want spoilers :P
[hidde]nIt's not like we just posted about things like crashing the Normandy into Harbringer's face or stabbing Udina in the eye with a piece of broken glass without any warning.[/hidden]

He was being funny.. Udina isn't stabbed in the face, he gets crushed by a Mako when it turns out he's a geth spy.

Holy ****, just played Natural Selection for the first time.

It's like an FPS version of Alien Swarm with a BF2 Commander role. The guys in there obviously play it a lot as they were calling out locations, weapon types and build trees easily.

So yeah, you build power lines then structures while the commander organises troops and upgrades armour/weapons... all the while the other team are doing the same (marines versus aliens).

Aliens are a varied lot. Skulks are super-fast wall climbers, then there's this scythe-y beast that tears you to shreds. The flying vulture thing lays down clouds of billowing green smoke that causes you damage (as well as obscures your vision) and this GIGANTIC MONSTER RHINO THING causes utter havoc.

It's $35USD and well worth checking out. Still very much in beta though and GoN's server started to lag when we hit 10 players, but on 8 it was as smoothe as a baby alien's eyeskin.

I bought NS2 ages ago, have only played it like once a week. I played the first one everyday for like 2 years and loved it.

Just waiting for the 2nd one to become non laggy and smooth. Get back into at least 16 players (12 for comp) again will be fun. The big 32 player games could be amazing when they get there if the balance is a little better than ns1.

Just trying not to play it so I don't hate it due to the lag and small amount of player numbers. Trying to keep the original love of NS1 alive without damaging it by playing ns2 too much too early.

I like to think the NS community is more helpful than most. Games are not fun if people don't know how to play. If you don't know what you are doing, it is great having a commander there to guide you through things until it becomes natural. After all we would rather a good long game over horribly one sided short one. Akin to how some servers on TF2 get when the teams are a little unbalanced. NS2 tries to avoid that problem.

Good to see you in game Dark Mellie, glad you like it!

It's a very addictive game and the community is great too. If only you could have played on Endars beasty server that had 18 players mostly lag free. Crazy fun :2gunsfiring_v1: Smaller games are still fun tho, marines just have to lock down areas a bit more.
The devs are always optimising the code so hopefully soon it wont take a beast of a server machine to see the higher player numbers.

For those that haven't seen the game check this out!
Once again thanks internode for putting up a server. Endar was unable to continue hosting on his machines and the options for servers were limited for the time being. BIG thumbs up to you guys for helping out :icon14:

NS2 is an awesome game - current community is very welcoming and we will help you out when you're starting. You'll even see one or two "noob friendly" servers hosted in the states.
As said we did get some great smooth flowing 18/20 player matches going when we had a chunky server to handle it. Hopefully some more optimisations and we'll get back to that same stage soon.

Bit laggy at the moment on the current Australian NS2 servers but we're hoping to get more new people in.

The game is very fast paced with a pretty hardcore (but open) community. As soon as you play it you'll get hooked. It will only take a few hours until you're starting to get the hang of things and bagging a few skulks / marines.

Is it on the Node steam server? If so I'll be getting it.

Going to try and play through The Witcher for the 4th time. Hopefully this time I can stick with it and not lose interest.
