My thoughts go out to you mate, I know very well the uncertainty your going through as I have been through the same with two separate national companies. I wish you and your team the best for the future.

I regularly visit my local GAME and the guys and girls there are very good, pricing is competitive for B&M compared to EB which is in the same shopping centre.

I feel sorry for the narcissists in this forum just looking at saving a few bucks by taking advantage of the situation and contribution to the problem, while many peoples jobs are in jeopardy.

I'm one of the biggest "support local" guys here, but there is a limit. The price gap now is just far to much.

I have no idea, but the avg person does not care who is to blame, they see a difference in price.

Steam sells the game through their store, so they should be responsible at the end.

The problem is the publisher just goes elsewhere if Steam stands up to them.

Still, it does not matter, we're still getting ripped.

It's usually the publisher that gets Steam to change the price.
Remember when Atari got upset regarding Witcher 2 on Steam? They upped the price.

I have been very happy with the service here in Canberra. I go to two. Belconnen near home and Civic which is near my work. I get a much more personalised service at Game than I do at EB or JB, etc.

For those saying they have poor deals. It's the same as any other service provider. There is some onus on the customer to understand what that item is worth to them. I've seen many instances where the GOTY edition is priced cheaper than the vanilla version etc. But I have also seen boxed games cheaper than Steam.

Game is always my first choice of all the B&M options. It is better for consoles games than PC however. JB is probably the leader in PC stock.

Your wrong, why should i go to a shop and pay more, when i can buy online?
Why should i go without items because i cant afford them as prices are too high?

The problem is the companies in B&M allowing the price jacking for years, its really up to them to solve their issue.

You said yourself game is cheaper then eb games in your shopping center, does this mean you buy from game instead of eb as its cheaper? if so then your no different.

there is a shift in australia in retail and mining, one is expanding one is shrinking. It will hit the cities more so then country.

My comment was directed at the people looking to save a few bucks at GAME's "closing down" sales(hypothetically) without empathy for the people that will loose their jobs. Sorry could have made that clearer.

When I ring a company and it goes through to an Indian call center I cringe because i know that person probably can not help me. For example i rang foxtel to change packages at the end the Indian guy said that will make it $81 a month. I explained to him i have the contract in front of me an it states $71 a month, He could not help me and just kept repeating the $81 a month. I had to send an email off and got a phone call back from an Australian who fixed the problem straight away. "Thank god I got to talk to an Australian!"... Think long and hard before you call people Racists.
