This, combined with Ubisoft's notorious DRM, makes me wonder why they even bothered making a PC version.

Yeah there is a line between legitimate issues with consolization and stupid complaints for the sake of complaining. Some games and genres simply are better with a controller, racing games, platformers, sports games. As long as keybaord and mouse are properly supported there should be no issue. I mean honestly these days the only games i'd play with mouse and kayboard are shooters, RTS's and RPG's, everything else controller all the way. I mean seriously, who'd play Mario on a keyboard?

When you say that a game is best played with a controller, you're pretty much guaranteeing that mouse and keyboard won't be properly supported.

Maybe, maybe not, if the previous games had proper mouse keyboard support then should there be much worry?

Surely in a 3rd person action game at least one of your key presses or mouse movements is going to have to be pressed and re-pressed to complete a 360 degree spin... and if that's the case, holding down a thumbstick is a much more fluid way to do it.

Pal, you're bordering on tin-foil hat territory with this post, and you're rather crazy at the best of times. Get yourself a 360 for Windows controller and just try it with some games on your PC... that control method has transcended the consoles it was made for, it is an entirely legitimate peripheral device :)

Also, examples plz -

In the last few weeks I've played through AC2 and Brotherhood with a keyboard + mouse and found them perfectly adequate. I played through the original AC on 360 and that was also fine.

There were a few instances where the directional limitations of WSAD became apparent, but I also found the mouse to be much more precise for angling the camera, not to mention I find a Mouse+KB much more ergonomic.

I can never seem to find a 360 wireless controller adapter for PC on a shelf, and I've never wanted one enough in any particular game to justify ordering one online.

In the same boat. Only I played through Brotherhood and Revelations on PC with no issues, after finish AC2 on PS3.

To each and there own at the end of the day.

No, that's just you wildly jumping to a conclusion with no evidence.

I love you jambo.

My opinion is this.

I mean, it will have keyboard and mouse support, but it's hard to argue against the statement that Assassin's Creed is best played with a controller.

To me, Assassin's Creed is a game designed around a controller for input. Playing it on a keyboard is as unnatural to me as playing it on a touch screen. You can't chuck any game on a control setup it wasn't designed for, and then cry when it's not an optimum experience.

Release a game (other than a flight sim or driving game) on PC, you damn well better support keyboard + mouse. Anything less and the game gets labelled "shoddy console port".

Personally I've played the AC series on a PS3...I've found the game to be more of a button-masher with no need for the precision a kb + m provides.

Ubisoft creative director recommends controller over mouse-and-keyboard setup for Windows version of upcoming stealth action game.

Nowhere in there does it say THERE WILL BE NO KEYBOARD SUPPORT. The very fact they're recommending one control over the other kinda implies that there's going to be an option.

Ubisoft are saying that AC3 was designed for a controller. That's it.

makes me wonder why they even bothered making a PC version.

So that there was a wider market to sell to, and so people can play the game with better graphics at higher resolutions.
If I get AC3 on PC (which I probably won't, having very little interest in the series) I can play it at a better framerate, with better graphics, and at a higher resolution than console players. Output PC to TV and play with a wireless controller, and it's the best of both worlds.
