how it that making it more like a pc?

Implementing more media services, redemption codes, download services, etc. Along with the general restrictions commonly found with most network services, all of which originated on pc. This is why I'm starting to move away from consoles; I shouldn't have to see Sarah Jessica Parker's face everytime I turn on my 360. *shudders*

I'm indifferent leaning towards dislike and outright loathing when it comes to retail which is the real difference. When I buy retail I want the game tied to that disc and nothing else.

Hmm can't tell if trolling, I despise Steam.

What's with Sony's step away from backwards compatibility? That used to be a huge selling point with me, it's also why I didn't rush out and get a PS3 (I waited till a few games I wanted came out before jumping in)

If Nintendo don't do the whole no 2nd hand games thing they'll have a nice advantage in the next gen market. The only advantage I can see in the Orbis/PS4 is that they can start making more content for 2k4k TVs...maybe it'll also be a 2k4k player or whatever format is being used for that resolution. Either way, PC FTW!

My biggest question about it all though is...will we see the boomerang controller again?

I sure hope so, or at least some sort of new design. I hate the PS's controller design and not changing it for the PS3 was an extremely lazy move. I mean sure the 360 controller was largely the same design but it had been optimized to perfection with a million tiny tweaks. The PS3 controller is literally the exact same as the PS2 controller except with dodgy triggers and internal sixaxis.

The thing that always gets me with consoles,

No backwards compatibility!!!!! WTF

Like vita, I'd buy one if I had some way of transfering all my umd games to it. But at the moment its just stupid, I've got 2 PS2's just because I've got so many games that I like to play (and finish someday).

If they're going to go down the no backwards path, they may as well get some smart people together to write an emulator that works for PC when the current generation of consoles is dead.

I hate retail pc games that require steam :2gunsfiring_v1: I would stop PC gaming if steam had no offline mode. The fact that steam needs to update the game when online is frustrating, if you buy a steam retail game ands its quite old you need to download huge data even up to 5 gb.

You have a video store near where you live? They all seemed to have shut down near me... not enough business?

Because PCs didn't start the whole "no returns, no second hand sale" thing at retail... great argument there! :icon14:

It makes more sense than 720:
Kotaku wrote:The word “Orbis” itself, from Latin, means circle, or ring, or even orbit. Not terribly helpful. Combine it with the name of Sony’s new handheld system, though, and you have the common term Orbis Vita (or, in strict Latin, Orbis Vitae). Which means “The circle of life”. Could the Vita be playing a very important role in the development and use of the next PlayStation home console? Maybe!

Markavian wrote:No backwards compatibility!!!!! WTF
As I said on Kotaku:
The PS3 uses a Cell Broadband CPU and the PS2 uses ‘Emotion Engine’ while this new one is rumoured to contain a x64 AMD. These are three COMPLETELY different CPUs that require different programming to support the different architectures. It is not a software thing and in order to create an emulator on the new system would cost a lot of money and would not guarantee to work for all games so it would require on going support for something that is not going to give anything in return for the company and something that will not operate at its full potential in the first place.

Backwards compatibility is NOT an easy feat and this entitlement that you all hold to it just shows how spoilt you have all become…
