Do you turn your net off to play games?? lol i think not

dont see this as a big deal. most games are all online anyways, ill be even more happy if the online login saves my game files in the cloud, that would be sweet, hate losing game files from a system crash etc :)

i think the net goes down what... once a year for a few hours if that? 99.9% service level agreement.

And what if I want to play this on my laptop at uni during lunch, which doesn't allow anything outside of a browser to be connected to the internet?

Constant online DRM sucks the major wang, but im still going to buy this, put its ankles behind its ears and play the sh*te out of it like a bass drum.

Oh noes, requires internet to start the game. Big deal, so do most of my Steam games. If my adsl drops out, it's REALLY not that hard to tether my phone or use my broadband USB card.

When will you warez kiddies stop acting like an online verification is the same as having a god damn cavity search? In 10 years' time when the majority of games require a constant connection?

While I do feel for people in regional areas who struggle with things like this, accessibility to services has always been a shortcoming of living outside metropolitan areas. It's nothing new.

Stop being cheap and buy a mobile card or tether you phone? Blaming the developer for the fact that you can't do whatever the hell you want on a taxpayer funded net connection is pretty childish.

Fairly sure they said this about battlefield 3 as well, however after having no internet access over the past month I was able to 'log in' to my origin account (which suggests that it saves my login details to my pc to allow me to access my games)and launch battlefield 3 and play the campaign, I think SC will do the same thing, after playing the game for the first time it will allow you to play it without the net afterwards.

Dont like EA.
Dont like the idea of this.

Buying? Yes.

Nothing would even put a hairline scratch into the sales of this game. So I'll just put up with what they give me just as everyone else will or has done before with a previous title

So I'm childish because I don't want DRM on a game, because in my scenario my university internet connection doesn't support a connection outside of a browser. The university of which not only do I pay to attend, but for internet usage also. And I'm cheap because you think I (as a student with no money mind you) should pay 20 bucks a month for mobile internet, ON TOP of my already existing internet connection to play a game I'd occasionally play at uni?

I'd love to hang out with you one day. The conversations you have must be non-stop comedy gold.

And what concern is it of you? Or are you just trying to be all forum edgy or something?

None. Just when it all comes down to it, I dont think many people at all would be reading the article saying "good on you EA!" We're all on the same page whether or not people are choosing to buy it. Theres thousands of titles out there which have various restrictions on how, where and when you can access them. Difference being how badly you want to play a game and, if you do.. you'll do what you need to do! We've all been there (well... pending how many decades you've been gaming)

Exactly right, something of which I don't like, which was expressed as a scenario which applies to me directly. DRM on this means I won't be getting it.

If you choose to, then that's great personal choice. :)

I ignore young lads like him mate, hes what they call an internet mouth... his irrelevant until he decides to act like an adult. As for DRM, I detest it, an I dont play games with it, specially EA games. Mobile internet is a joke in this country. I accidentally used my virgin mobile account with a 12 meg download other day, when I needed an app. Cost me $32 for 12 meg.... He's full of **** on that aspect.

It's sad but I dont know anyone who will buy Simcity now with this idiotic DRM system. Not to mention Origin. I will not tolerate that on my PC.

Very sad its come down to it when you think about it but nothing would ever be able to effect EA's profits, and if a big title flops, it only takes them a rushed half finished sequel to regain their losses! :P

Unfortunately that is a different issue us gaming enthusiasts don't have any control over (and by large are the ones who suffer), and is what happens when big companies get into the habit of making money instead of games.
