Bioshock 2 refuses to patch

So I was going back and forth with a 2k support guy but it seems like he stopped giving a **** and/or had no idea how to fix this problem I am having, so thought I'd try my luck here.

So every time I start the game GFWL comes up, asks me to install an update so I accept; it successfully downloads the patch. I exit the game and run the installer, which claims to have successfully patched, but then I run the game and it asks me to install that same patch again (the game version on the bottom left has not changed).

I can't seem to get far with GFWL disabled because the game constantly crashes (hopefully an issue fixed with a patch).

Things I've tried so far;

Attempting to patch via both SP and MP modes several times.
Uninstalling and reinstalling both BS2 and GFWL.
Running BS2/GFWL/Patches as administrator.
Running the game directly from the folder outside of Steam.
Manually patching all 4 different patches from GoN servers.
Deleting all the savegames and data from docs/bioshock2
Running the GFWL marketplace alongside BS2.
Running other GFWL games just in case it needed to update somehow (they all work fine).
All of the above with all non Microsoft services disabled

Any suggestions I might have not thought of?

Crack it. screw the patch

B (top of new page)
Scroll to bioshock2

Download your version
*****RENAME THE ORIGIONAL FILE*****
I choose .orig.. ie: bioshock2.exe.orig
Copy the crack over.

I've tried running a GFWL disabling program, and I've also tried playing not signed in to GFWL. The problem is that the game is crashing and my only thought is that the crashing is an issue that has been fixed in a patch (which I cannot install).

Download a torrent, Install (to non-default directory) see if it plays ?
You own the game so its not piracy.. its just removal of **** drm
Try patching it if it doesnt run.

In this case I agree with Bluefire. Ive had too much trouble with Bioshock 2 in the past because of GFWL. I honestly hate its DRM.

Yeah it's something I'll probably do as a last resort but I'd rather not waste another 8gb of download unless I have to.

I'd also normally not bother with a game after 15 mins of this kind of **** but I really want to continue the story :(
