Curiouser and Curiouser: EA-Published Game Appears on Steam

Unread postby News Portal » 23 Mar 12, 11:11 am

Right now, you can get [app=8160]Warp[/app] on Steam. It’s a fun little adventurin' thing that’s worth your time and money. It’s also published by EA. And it’s on Steam. Wait, what? Yep. It’s also got a huge list of Origin-related restrictions to go with it. That's even stranger considering that appeared to be the exact thing Valve took issue with back when all of EA’s properties were mysteriously falling off of Steam last year due to Valve’s “restrictive” terms of service (howled EA). So what’s the deal? They buddies again?

The only problem with Warp is the pain-in-the-arse controls (it even has a picture of an Xbox controller when you go into the controls screen -_-) but this is all forgotten when you plug your Xbox or PS3 controller in and enjoy the carefully crafted gore and puzzles.

If you do not know how to get your PS3 controller working than read the following:
Hidden: show
You can also use a PS3 controller with vibration and six axis if you do desire. There are quite a few different driver sets out there but the one that I used when I installed the free copy of DIRT 2 that came with my Graphics card way back when was MotioninJoy. You can also connect your PS3 controller via Bluetooth if you have a BT radio on your machine (if not you can buy them off of eBay for $1 with no postage fee) and even connect up your BR remote because that is kind of lazy guy that you are (and the Wireless Keyboard but lord knows why you would want to do that).

Some games like Warp and most GfWL they do not recognise controllers that are not Xbox controllers so make sure that you change your emulation in the MotioninJoy configuration tool to Xbox.

This not an amazing game changer of a game but it is worth every cent…

So do you purchase a game key through steam and then have to use this key through origin to play?

You can also get Kingdoms on Amalur on Steam. I guess it just means there are no plans for DLC.

Are you referring to the DLC that released two days ago, called "The Legend of Dead Kel", which is currently available on Steam for $9.99? :)

edit: Mind you, 38 Studios are listed as the publisher on Steam, not EA. Similar deal as with Warp, perhaps, where the developer has the right to list their game themselves.

Oh, I hadn't seen that. I'll just shut my trap. :P Rather interesting that it's not listed as published by EA.

you buy Warp from Steam and get a single-use Origin code with which to play it on EA’s platform. Isn’t that highly derp-tastic?

wat.

The online disclaimer on steam does say a single time use serial code..

NOT SURE IF EA ARE SERIOUS WITH THIS **** OR JUST TROLLING....

the first of april is soon right guys?!
