Could DUST 514 Be Bound for the PC?

Cross-platform EVE Online tie-in [app=6291]DUST 514[/app] was always a strange prospect. Sure, we get it, exclusivity is a “thing” and that’s supposed to make the hordes come screaming to your console – but it’s a game that’d make a ton of sense on the PC. Now, CCP have hinted that it will, in fact, be leaping the divide into computer land. Massively quizzed CCP guy Hilmar Pétursson directly about such a thing occurring at GDC 2012, wondering aloud why the PS3 version of the game includes support for mouse and keyboard controls:

This could be better on PC, really. It would allow CCP to upgrade it incrementally (graphics and new features) like they do with EVE.
The game can only last as long as the console, right?

Not quite. They say that they're going to be able to update DUST 514 just like EVE on the PS3. Though it is part of the reason they dropped Xbox 360 support.

However, I'm slightly more surprised that Toby didn't even mention the fact that DUST 514 is going to be Free to play. As in completely free to play (it had a $20 buy-in before).

Without the winning bit. All the stuff you can pay for will either be vanity items, side-grades of existing equipment (no more powerful than the original). All of which can be resold on the in game market, just like you can resell PLEX in EVE Online right now.
