Lord of the Rings Online Goes Down River

Unread postby News Portal » 2 Mar 12, 12:37 pm

And not just any river – the Great River. Can you say epic and also watery? Yes you can. You have working faculties. The latest update for [app=7132]Lord of the Rings Online[/app] sails the Tolkien-happy MMO down the Great River, which will include impressive vistas, a new reputation faction with an elite area, and a bunch of new quest rewards. The coolest thing is this, though: the Great River’s where you’ll find Stangard, home to the very first Rohirrim settlement. It’s a bit like Skyrim’s Markarth in that its full of unique architecture and strangeness.

Lotsa changes!

Skirmish soldiers can be summoned on landscape

Huzzah! :)

Worn Symbols of Celebrimbor are now available via Skirmish barter vendors.

Excellent! In the face of all logic, I tend towards solo-play in LOTRO, so top tier crafting is always impossible. Generally such items are eventually able to be sourced in other ways (like this), but I'm always behind the curve - such is life.

Lore-masters now have a choice of two items that can go in their ranged slot: the Brooch of Rage and the Brooch of Regrowth.

Heh, about bloody time. LMs have been begging for class-specific ranged slot items since launch. :)

You can now exchange Moria Guards and Miners reputation items by visiting the reputation vendors in Moria.
Some barter vendors in Lothlórien, Mirkwood and Enedwaith will now allow you to exchange their region's respective Gold Tokens for Silver Tokens (along with the other way around).

Smart. Can finally consolidate some of my many stacks of Silver branches. :P

Virtues have been extended to Rank 14.

Bah humbug. I like low caps on Virtues, means I don't have to grind them...

Never got around to finishing off the Isenguard expansion, or even reaching level cap. Should probably get back to it sometime.

Been in and out of LotRO since release, but that's because of me as a player, not the quality of their game. Such a well supported awesome MMO.

LOTRO is F2P these days, yes.
Game Updates (like this) are free, though there may be quests or regions involved that you need to pay to unlock.
Expansion packs (which this isn't) do cost money still. I'd imagine there'll be quite a few more Updates/Books before they do another expansion though. Rise of Isengard was their most recent and it came out in September last year. :)

I still have this installed, haven't updated it for over a year though. I bought a few quest packs last time but didn't get a chance to play through them, probably should try it again.
