Australian SWTOR Servers Launch Today

Unread postby News Portal » 1 Mar 12, 3:59 pm

Or more accurately, they launched last night at 10PM EDT. But nevertheless, Australians everywhere now have access to three Australian-hosted, local servers: Master Dal'Nala (PVP), Gav Daragon (RP) and Dalborra (PVE). Although there's only three servers to start with, our very own community member and all-round gentleman Wyld is in Sydney right now at the [app=4600]SW:TOR[/app] Australian Launch Event, and confirmed via Twitter that more servers are due to be rolled out soon.

So glad we have local hosted servers now!! going from 300ms to 70ms you can feel the difference.
I have smashed out all the nightmare Ops and have the 2 titles but hardly touched PvP due to the character displacement (stunning one person and they are not in the place I see them).

Now I intend to do a lot more PvP untill more Ops are released :)

Those who have already begun their journey in The Old Republic will have a limited-time opportunity to migrate their characters from their current servers to Asia Pacific servers in late April.

I can only assume what you really meant to say was "I don't actually enjoy SW:TOR, personally". Easy mistake to make! The keys are like, right next to each other. Think nothing of it. :)

Horrid animation timings with clunky controls is an instant GG for me and any other serious PvP player. I'm not alone if you read the SWTOR forums anyway.

Oh also forgot about the terrible ability delay the game has, unless that's been patched but I doubt it is or ever will be.

Just sayin.

i keep hating on SWTOR to one of my friends, but i got some time to kill Before GW2 stuff starts up, is it worth playing the game? sure i heard the story is snazzy and all but for like $80 it's not worth it for story alone.

Thoughts guys?

So, again, what you really meant to say is "I don't like the game, personally"?

That's fine obviously, but also obviously a lot of other people do like the game and are enjoying it, me being one of them.

I just don't understand why anybody feels the need to say dumb statements like "the game is trash" when there's a lot more constructive discussion to be had. What is the point of being so sweepingly dismissive? It's just silly.

Ability delay is being worked on, and playing on a local server will also help immensely.

Read the WoW forums people complain about everything all the time on forums you know, like you are right now.

The vocal minority is not what an opinion should be based on.

I wouldn't say the game is trash. I would say it's a decent and fun game but could use some more work. In my opinion Bioware needed to further investigate ways to keep players occupied long term.

I ended up getting a bounty hunter and marauder to 50 by mid jan, did quite a lot of pvp (think I'm at 58 valor or close to) on the mara and ops, and I just found the content too short and easy so it lost my attention and haven't played since.

To be honest the biggest downfall is people keep comparing it to WoW, which simply can't keep happening.

@ the guy with herpes: But if you're saying the timers and all of that are wrong doesn't that mean you're comparing it to something that is right? Which means you're effectively saying it sucks because it's not like another game in which you are better at PVP.

Either that or there's some perfect Aristotlean 'form' of PVP that can only be sensed by vibrations in the interwaves.
