Year of the mech.

4 mech related titles due this year that I can think of heh (This, MW Tactics, Reign of Thunder, and Hawken), though it seems only this and Hawken will be first person, RoT is 3rd person and tactics is turn based strategy. But still, rather funny that there is a bit of a resurgence for it.

edit: Eh, about as useful as the working vid, mind you. I love my Mechwarrior (or should I say, Battletech - old school) but that was uneventful.

Anyone else wondering how spectacular the impact will be when that 100 ton Atlas hits the ground? Because AFAIK they never ever had jump jets

Not pretty is probably the answer...

when you fail your landing in tabletop with some of the 75 ton mech on jump jets on touch down... the result is ...

well... you can probably guess what happens.

Guess they changed that when they gave the Atlas jumpjets (something else I never knew they had).

If you look at the mech as it drop there is still yellow frame attached to the arse end of it... going to assume that contains a dropshute along with the booster you see fire..

From what i can gather, there is an atlas variant with jumpjets but the reference that list it was only available as PDF only format release in 2011 so it's a fairly new addition indeed but much earlier than this video. The date though is all wrong as it was set much later than when MWO is supposed to be set.

I think the Online came just as much from it being Mechwarrior Online than anything else.
