Developer Interview: Robyn Theberge on Mass Effect 3

Unread postby News Portal » 24 Feb 12, 2:40 pm

We asked for your questions, and on Wednesday night Dan Staines was at Sydney's [app=7843]Mass Effect 3[/app] event to put them directly to Robyn Theberge, Associate Project Manager on the game. Read on for her thoughts on new players, whether or not the demo was a success, and how much player feedback is taken on board. We even sneak in a question about Origin.

If that is what you want to take away from it, so be it.

Perception is a wonderful thing :)

That's funny... because I certainly did not read it like that whatsoever.

Well it’s an EA developed platform, so it makes sense it would be the best platform to distribute EA published games.

You'd think, but you'd be wrong.

+1 in lieu of my previous post ;)

that said, still hanging out for this - been loving the co-op horde mode effort in the demo.

How do you gather that? I cant recall ever being forced into any relationship in Bioware games... Stop hitting on the guys if you don't want them to reciprocate :P

I've played literally every BioWare game in the last... seven or eight years, and never been "forced" into a gay romance. What are you even talking about?

Be careful dude, I've heard that every time you type the word 'gay' on the internet a Government-programmed nanobot in your keyboard samples your skincells and immediately adds your DNA to the sex-offenders watchlist.

OH GOD, THEY'RE NOW COMING FOR ME TOO.

A big part of DA2 criticism was that it went too far to action from story.

ME was always more action oriented than DA, so I don't see how it can 'become' DA2.

i actually TRIED to shag several of the crew in ME2 (having been told great things of course) - but no matter what I did, Ms Shepard just wasn't up to the task! (think my relationship jutsu must be at an all time low)

The answer to the Origin question was completely predictable. The answer given didn't actually match the question asked - it said it was the best way to deliver DLC rather than touching on any specifics of differences between the services. That's the reason I was saying in the questions thread that it was a pointless question. :P

I hope the 'crafting' system has been changed, it was bad in ME2 and worse in ME1.
but I liked the ME 1 inventory and the mako way better.

also the 'heat clip' thing is just stupid and makes no sense at all.
but I know fromt he demo thats still in =/

I much rather the over heat system, it makes way more sense for an energy weapon.
there is no reason to throw a heatsink out.
At worst you'd switch it out for a spare and then switch it back in once its cooled and the spare is hot.
HMG gunners didn't throw a hot barrel away, they just swapped it out for a cool one then swapped it back in when needed.
