Aion Heads F2P Next Week

Korean MMO [app=1565]Aion[/app], which enjoyed a brief flurry of fame and success when it launched in the West a few years back, is now becoming free to play. According to the site, free-to-players (known as "Starters"), will enjoy almost all of the full features but only have two character slots and limited access to chatting, trading, and other bot-exploitable aspects of the game.

As is now standard, you can buy a "Gold Pack" which grants you full access to everything, priced at €9.99 per month. There's also an in-between level of "Veteran" for former subscribers, who return after the F2P switchover. Read all the details on the official site.

This game was a big waste of time for me. A big grind fest and laggy as in PvP. I am glad it's going F2P so the people who love it will have more people to play with.

The game will be unplayable, will be smashing 500+ ping easy as it's only the EU client that's going FTP, not US.

I actually can't find anything in the news submissions about Aion at all, I'm sorry!

As much as I appreciate everyone submitting news, the reality is that we get literally hundreds and hundreds of emails through there each day - not just from users saying "how about this?" but also PR people talking about their releases, random spam, all sorts of things. If we miss you, it is never intentional

Just today in fact I saw a thing from jerichosainte (the BF3 article) and credited them at the bottom. So if I missed you or someone else did, please accept our apologies! It just happens.

Only thing I know about aion comes from a mate of mine.. up intill swtor was released xfire said he was playing aion.. send him a msg.. nothin.. 30min later his wife responds, no hes at work, just the bot running.. 24hrs a day 5 days a week he only bothered to play it a few hours a day on the weekends.. Aparently it took 4 months to complete one quest.. everyone runs a map hack that shows every enemy in the zone, even stealthed ones...
After hearing that I didnt bother getting it..

What a terrible, terrible game. I bought it at launch. Believed the hype.
I don't regret many game purchases, but Aion was one I'd rather forget.

Which will not help you as it's EU that's going free not NA, might wanna change the title to save people wasting 20GB+.
