Bethesda Knew of Skyrim’s PS3 Issues Before Release

Unread postby News Portal » 17 Feb 12, 1:42 pm

As someone busy ploughing through (and coping with) [app=7846]Skyrim[/app] on ye olde PS3, I have to say, I am now not feeling as chirpy as I was moments before. In too-candid-for-comfort conversation with Kotaku at the DICE summit in Los Angeles last week, Todd Howard admitted that Bethesda was aware of Skyrim’s PS3 issues well before release – but thought that “only a small percentage” of players would be affected by it .

I'm not really surprised. Bethesda wouldn't be the first triple A developer to do something like that.

At least they had the balls to man up and admit it...

Given that Fallout: NV suffered the same issue and wasn't rectified on the PS3 and Skyrim is built upon the same engine though modified I'm not surprised this affect the Skyrim PS3 version.

But wait! I thought the point of a console was that it "just works"?
I thought people play on consoles so they don't have to worry if it'll run on their system ... [like Pc gamers used to before the hardware requirement stagnation caused by console games kicked in"

I find this highly amusing.

Simply inexusable.

Todd and the rest of the Bethesda crew can suck a fat one, as far as I'm concerned.

This habit of publishers releasing buggy games that are relient on patches is beyond a joke; nevermind the people who aren't connected online.

Frankly (and no doubt I'll get flamed for this), I don't see why Skyrim has gotten the accolades it has. Yes, it has a huge world with an incredible amount of content...but should that really matter when the title is so full of bugs? It's Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas all over again. I'm not saying having some bugs in a game should equal condemnation of a developer...but when it's this much, and the fact that a %100 guarantee of quality evidently doesn't matter to Bethesda, well...no sir, I don't lke it.

Because **** logic!

Nothing to do with consoles, everything to do with Bethesda.

Mate of mine just Platinum'ed Skyrim on PS3 with nary a performance issue (and from what I saw, it looked just fine graphically).

He's 37. I suspect he probably laughs at people who define themselves by their choice of gaming platform and considers them shallow, immature kiddies, but hey... who am I to judge. ;)

That's the funny thing about when people say "console kiddies", it isn't 1980 anymore, the average age of gamers is something like 30 years old now.

I grew up on consoles...

I don't play them anymore because the games have changed dramatically from the Master System/SNES days when console exclusives were actually console exclusives.

Now that feeling seems more to come from PC games.

Yeh that's a fair conclusion, pay the same amount and expect more bugs. What planet do you people come from? Get off your "PC gamer" high horse for change  What's also hilarious is that you have a go at people who play it on consoles before you even THINK about having a go at the developer who CONSISTENTLY releases buggy as **** games.

playing on ps3 , havnt had any issues with memory , just game breaking bugs that force me to go back in my save an hour or 2 ....

im stuck with a bug atm, in the imperial army quests , i have to capture another town back , but when i goto the imperial camp that "legate" chick who i report to just keeps attacking me

tried running away , coming back a day or 2 later but she justs keeps trying to kill me , putting away weapons and trying to stop her doesnt work , just really annoying , want to get through this quest and im stuck , has stopped me playing the game atm. :?

had another quest where i had to kill a guy get a key off him , killed him and his body fell through the floor into the abyss before i could search lol ...

just had heaps of **** like that happen to me ...

i know , i should have got pc version , but i got ps3 version ok...because i want to sit for hours n hours n hours that i play ... on my comfy couch with my huge t.v , not my pissy pc..
