This thread reminds me of why I became a business owner.

Even if it is kindof difficult at times.

I get payed 25 flat (casual) where i work, but on sundays i get 1.5x aka sunday loading. However, it's 1.5x the rate of the full time worker for my age, not 1.5x the casual rate for my age, so i end up only getting $6 more per hour instead of $12.50. i think it's completely bollox, but at the end of the day i take what i can get and can get over it reasonably easily.

Necroing this thread

When I was a xmas casual with Myers I got flat 17.75 an hour (though I think they gave me more for the 10-12 hour shifts). Didnt get a shift for 4 weeks , so I knew that they were calling it quits on me before the contract was up.

Luckily I have a second job (also casual), but the pay is not that crash hot. Keeping it going though untill I find permanent work as it helps pay the bills.

+1 for me too.

BUT
i sorta get irked that places like holdens and in the day mitshubishi would get so heavily subsidies when its small business that employs the majority of australians.
i mean god damn! our last BAS statement for the tax dept was 19k - thats for just three months.
i have no problem with taxes (we need roads and health and education) but why dont politicians help the little guys out a bit more?

and beast - i hope you find some more work(either there or elsewhere) and that your TAFE subjects are fun and interesting. all the best mate.
