[CANCLLED] PR:Arma2 International Game 15 Jan Morning

Unread postby Swedge » 13 Jan 12, 9:21 pm

This event has been cancelled because the pings wont work out for some of the international regulars. Will reschedule another game for them and another game for AU that's more convenient for us Down Under.

Event info here.

We usually see at least maybe 5 Aussies or Kiwi's on at this time. Will try get another game organised in Australian evening time soon.

Don't know what PR:Arma 2 is?

Has anyone else tried this mod on the Aussie servers?
I've logged on once or twice now to fiddle around with it and am interested in getting some peeps into play it.

Lots of slots for lots of players.

Everyone plays on the Tactical Gamer server, including over a dozen Aussies.

Maybe try to get BigD server populated in a few weeks when the new update for PR is released, as there will be a lot of local players wanting to try it out again, as it will have missions on Chernarus, and different units than just BAF, etc.

For now, TacticalGamer is VERY playable, even with 200-250ms pings. None of the rubber-banding and lag spikes you often see on Australian servers.

from my experience of playing on europe server last time, 200-250ms is still playable with no noticeable lag at all. But the server used is quite powerful ~core i7 etc.

No lag even with full 32 slots warefare on custom map like ovaron and isla duala.

maybe we can poll money monthly to get a good server as the one they are using.

you can ask brit-XR for the server specs, settiings or bandwidth here at hotshots forum cause i used to donate to him last time for the server (just 10bucks tho )
http://www.hotshots.folkersma.org/forum ... =34&t=1681

their ping limit is 300ms if i'm not mistaken.

I play on the TacticalGamer server most mornings at about 0500-0800 hours Qld time which is currently the peak time internationally. You can see player numbers for past week here:

Image

Ping is about 250 and about the same for all Aussies. Completely playable at that ping. It's not Battlefield or COD. The pings aren't really comparable. There's a fair few Aussie/NZ regulars on it including myself, Mad Rabbit, Keithy George, 76, James, Jambalaya, Karmichael, Gouba, and sometimes Freeborne, Captncrunch, Captain Cranky, Aestabjoo, and SnR. Others I can't remember, I apologise :) There are players from all around the world including the U.S., Canada, Korea, Afghanistan, Russia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Poland, Netherlands, Britain, Belgium, Finland, Israel, Lithuania, Croatia, Qatar, Denmark, Cambodia, Norway, Brazil, Karmichael, etc. It's awesome. The Aussies have apparently gained a bit of a reputation for being ass-kickers, so we can use more of you to show off :D
If those hours don't work for you during the work week, try it on a Sunday sometime which is the busiest day of the week. Sometimes the server population is strong till as late as 1100 hrs etc.

There is a Beta version being tested at the moment. You need a special download and the password etc to get in. Details are here:

There are bugs but it's pretty awesome. Here's a recent game someone recorded:

Would be awesome to start getting some players and games going on the AEF/BigD server some time too.

I've tried numerous sources for getting my hands on the PR .015 beta and they're all having problems extracting when it comes to the actual exe. :(

Copy that. I had the same problem and posted the solution in the TG forums. You just need to download a more recent version of 7zip (for free) and extract it all with that. That problem occurs with old versions of 7zip etc.

Rightio I'll give the torrent part of it a shot and see how that goes.

I've been playing around in the AEF server just by myself learning the ropes and my god this feels like it would **** all over BE Warfare for proper PVP......provided the server has the numbers to pull it off. This is where I think it will be a problem, it's an extremely ambitious and well thought out game mode but I believe you're going to need upwards of 20+ minimum to keep the flow of the match going.

Still, I'm super keen to give it a shot.

Cool.

Agreed about minimum 20ish but, with Small-sized maps, even 8 vs 8 can be quite amusing and fun sometimes. TG server at peak timeslot (0500-0800 Qld) usually has between 30-60 players. Lately at the 60 end.

Hope to see you in-game soon mate! Come find me and join my squad.
