Fitness February #3

Unread postby discobrad » 30 Jan 12, 10:39 am

this time of year again
after a December full of Christmas parties, holidays full of BBQs topping it off with Australia day and whatnot, mountains of food and litres of beer have been consumed.
so will be getting stuck into my annual Fitness February - something i used a few years ago as a kick-start to dropping 10kg. i have found its a good way to snap the habits of summer revelry and a good detox

Rules:
1. no soft drink, alcohol
2. no junk food (chips, chocolate, lollies, take away, etc)
3. no eating after 9:30pm

note: this is all in conjunction with my usual fitness routine - 3 weight sessions a week, 1 cardio run and 2 nights of basketball

i do have 2 events that fall in this month that i am allowing myself to partake in...ie Big Day Out this week and a mates 30th. so have decided to start 2 days earlier and the day after those events i am setting myself a penalty, current thought is a 9am cardio session for minimum of an hour. as with anything in my fitness stuff, i dont want it to rule my life so happy to allow myself those days

so yeah, thats the go for now - have taken a "before" photo and hopefully this year i remember/feel confident enough to do an "after" shot.

so if you are feeling sluggish and bloated from too many beers in front of the tennis/cricket/PC, join me!

This sounds good.
Count me in!

I have 2 events as well.
Squad catch up and 2 mates bdays (combined into one night.)

Might try stay away from beer though. Diet Coke and vodka or something :p

My penalties can be P90X doubles the day after (or before, as I'm sure hangover will take a toll!) each event.

Everytime I go on a fitness kick I go like 90% cardio 10% weights, might try and put a bit more into lifting this time round.

Don't really need to lose "weight", but I need to convert the fat I currently have into muscle!

Will take my before pic on Weds..

weights are very much a big part of it, hence i try not to change my exercise routine just be much more disciplined in making each session, maybe a bit extra from time to time.

speaking of that - time for a run!

I'm in. I've already started a program last week.

My one exception date for this year is Valentines Day dinner (wine) :)
Chocolate will be the hard one for me, but another addition I am having is what I eat has NO added sugar, NO added salt, and GOOD fats. (yes they do exist)

Training
3xweek at gym (60-90min)
1xweek 20km bike ride
30min walks every day

I'll take some measurements and weigh in tomorrow, along with before pics, then IT'S ON!!!!!! For me, not all about weight. I need to kick at least 5kg, but need to tone up and fill out with muscle a bit.

Nice work Disco, good luck all.

Everyone's starting today! Starting off slow this week to get myself back into doing stuff, just cruising along with the regular PT sessions and recommencing martial arts. Working on a program to piggyback onto that so I can build up my strength and cardio. Will post up when it's ready.

and dont mind chooky - he spams that stuff randomly everywhere. some sort of crossfit reference, i believe the numbers signify the amount of guys in the roof that dont have a shirt on...or something

lol nice Disco.
WOD = workout of the day

and no, 30x doesn't indicate the number of shirtless men, its the number of reps to be done :P
