So I'm getting a new Subaru XV-S, and being 19 the insurance is going to be a nasty rip-off.
My parents are currently using Elders I believe for their car/s and I was thinking of them as a viable option. I'll start hunting around more closer to the date that it actually arrives but want to know people's experience with others.
woah i'd be looking at a forrester thats a few years old over the xv-s, namely size and power/weight. xv-s is a compact softroader running on an extended impreza base with the 2.0 ltr dohc from the last gen impreza....
but, QBE are ok, and swann are like the big ones, if its a brand newy make sure your comprehensive is what you want. jesus new car @ 19... go for it
When I was under 25 and using my Civic Type-R Just Car insurance were pretty damn reasonable, I would look in to them as well. You can adjust your premiums and excess as well as pay monthly if you're so inclined.
I considered the Forester but I dislike how underpowered they have become in the XT-range which is where I was aiming.
I liked the styling of the XV and its the kinda looking car I would like for longer trips and camping out. I've got a bit of a yearly payrise hence why I'm forking out nearly 40K on a new car. We'll see how it goes as I have yet to test drive and see what I think, just getting quotes at the moment and finance.
Its going on my parents insurance now, so they have said. Makes my life a tad easier, hopefully I'll get the chance to go down to the dealer in the next week and see if the XV is going to be a decent enough car. Kinda like how it's shaped and economy over speed is better for me considering its going on a long trip (Adelaide to Melbourne + Sydney) for its first run.
You know that first service is due at 1000 / 1500km right? From factory they use a **** running in oil
Not recomended to do long constant rev trips within that first 1000km (If yah gota, make sure you consanty changing revs, put the foot down for a second to really bed those rings in good, otherwise they'll just glaze up and you'll get **** compression / performance)
