games.on.net Retiring Urban Terror Servers

Unread postby News Portal » 19 Jan 12, 11:27 am

After four glorious years, games.on.net is now retiring its Urban Terror servers due to steady decline in usage. The servers are being shut off as we speak, and the hardware redirected to more important needs. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has played on them in the last four years and all the admins who have put their hard work into keeping them clean and safe for all our users. Best of luck in your non-urbane, less terrifying futures!

If they were online tonight you might have seen a massive jump in users after the mention of the game. Not going to give GoN users a chance to let it go out in a blaze of glory? One last night of full Internode servers?

Gotta admit the mere mention of this game, whatever it is, piqued my interest in playing it.

Hmm. Possibly. However certainly not the highest reports for a game :-)

I guess this is my cue for the obligatory "**** Game" quote? lol

if only urt had better ways of tracking all the smacktards it would have been a pleasure to admin. Thanks for all those people who have contributed over the years, it was once a very good server, its just a pitty i didnt have a chance to admin it through its peak

Was looking for the server today and I couldn’t see it, so I checked the site and found out. :(

Was one of Oceania's best and most popular servers.

Too many leg cuts in own spawn, a premeditated tk by bleeding, the one players get kicked for on any good UrT server.

Just a year ago gon#1 UrT server was in the top 20 in the world on gametracker. Sad to see a clan can run a very popular public UrT server on a shoestring budget, while an ISP throws a towel in the ring.

Hope this is not a sign of things to come under a new management.

Take care and check minimap before nading.
