I'll probably watch it again (because i'll watch anything) and because it can't get any more disappointing.

Tough leather hides and the fact they are huge makes them not instantly die from bullets shot in their direction.

Due to coming from an uninhabitable world they have set out to not impact on nature. This goes with also using tranq bullets on the dinosaurs, wind generation that is already a bottleneck for their technology.

Nekosan wrote:Why don't the execute the "sixer" rebels that are stealing their **** and trying to murder them (they had the leader in their base ffs)?

Hidden: show
Based on the little wink/nod they gave each other just before the 2 leaders took charge of the situation and got everyone to drop their guns I was pretty sure there was more to their relationship then what was revealed IN THE FIRST EPISODE. This was confirmed in the final scenes when Miriam talks about the commanders son still being alive and doing the carvings.

Nekosan wrote:Why didn't those kids just make their booze IN THEIR **** HOUSE?

Wouldn't be much of a rebellious act if they were allowed to make moonshine in their house

Show wasn't fantastic and I particularly disliked the middle daughter character. But it was far from horrible. In terms of science fiction, there was a few leaps to make it believable but thats par with any science fiction show where you don't have the time to explain every little thing. Up to you as a watcher to either suspend your disbelieve (they have established that the dinosaurs are hard to kill, who cares) or use your imagination and knowledge to fill in the gaps (why don't they save more people from old earth, perhaps the power requirements of the machine are such that they are sending people back as fast as they can).

You are right though, I would love the Jersey Shore cast to be there. Being torn apart by dinosaurs... can't think of anything better I would rather see them do.

Also just to throw this out there for the sci fi fans who were wondering, "duuuh, the portal takes us to a different time line so we don't have to worry about **** the future up".... :freak:

what absolutely pitiful complaints.

dinosaurs immune to bullets: what nudge said. newsflash, some animals have tougher skin than us, is it hard to imagine **** dinosaurs that fight each other with their massive teeth and razor sharp tails have tough skin? is it hard to imagine something that weighs more than a bus can take more than 10 bullets?

shoot the carnivores: what nudge said. like they are going to acknowledge their mistakes of raping nature, but continue to do it.

execute: I don't know about you, but most people have an issue with murdering people for no reason. it doesn't seem like the sixers waltz into terra nova and start killing people. they are just trying to survive. why kill a bunch of people trying to live differently?

booze: probably because of the following scenario. some person is walking past and smells **** fermenting, and wonders what's going on. walks into a house that is full of underage kids and finds the alcohol. they are breaking the law. oh what's that. the fruit/nut they are using to make it only grows outside the gate. bam. I'm sure the kids want that to happen.

I thought the first episode was alright. the show has potential. there were some pretty lame moments (I'm with nudge on the middle daughter, they need to fix her up a bit) like when he's running from the dinosaur and says to the guy in the car "what are you waiting for", but overall interesting enough to keep watching. they got some cool little mysteries going on which will be really good to watch unfold if they do it right.

Here is a suggestion: watch the first episode, if you like it, continue to watch. If you don't, stop watching.

Win win :D

Also.. SoA Season 4 has been brilliant so far.

I liked it, thought it was a reasonable introduction to a show. I liked how they got around the whole grandfather paradox as well. I have no problem suspending my disbelief in science fiction shows.

I didn't realise they had filmed the show in Qld until I saw the shot of the people first walking up to the main compound and could see those gum trees in the background and just knew it was here in Australia.

One thing I will say though about the carnivore dino that came to the gate is that while they probably could have killed it, I think the last thing they would want is the rotting corpse of a 6 ton dinosaur sitting just in front of their base inviting more and more dinos to come up for a feed. Better to just fire the sonics so they learn that 'that place' is not where they want to be.

Also, I was reading some of the things on the net about the show and one of the most common and funny thoughts going around is that a lot of people are wondering/worrying about the fact that in the future a giant asteroid is going to hit the planet and cause an ice-age. Considering that event happens about 65 million years ago and the people at Terra Nova are at 85 million years ago, I think they have time to prepare.

Yeah I thought the same Bickety. 20 million years to prepare, whereas probably a handful of years left for the planet in the 'future'. :P

I thought it was ok apart from a few annoying things - I wanted to stab the teenage son in the face, enough with the goddamn angst, really hope they get rid of that or at least dial it back.

It has potential but I fear it will be too marketed at a family audience to really reach that potential.

ALSO. whos to say we wont get hit by another massive asteroid in our future

also, what about yellow stone. thats an disaster waiting to happen.

QFT, yellowstone is overdue and we're all doomed.
