GENERAL: Race Q/A & Tips

Unread postby Jnr » 10 Apr 11, 6:24 pm

Reviving this thread. I am now a Low GM Zerg player and a High M T player. I also cast at local tournaments, if there's any questions you guys have about the game, don't hesitate to ask :)

There's also a bunch of good players who can help out.

FAQ

Q: How much saturation should I have at my bases?
A: Full Saturation is exactly 3 drones per mineral patch, this amounts to 24 plus 6 in gas. However, as stated by this link (Will input link later) it has been proven that 16 drones (2 per patch) produces maximum economic efficiency.

Have some links. Add 'em to your OP with some others of your own if you like.

Done. I will also work on gathering some decent replays in which I win and lose.

If MrBitter also claims the heavy upgrade lings strat as his own then he is the 3rd player I have seen claim it.

That's a little bit misleading. I get what you're saying, if you've got 3 drones per patch in one base and 1 per patch in another you should definitely transfer to even out the numbers while you spawn some more. But you should clarify 3 drones per patch pulls in more minerals than 2. (It's just that the 3rd drone pulls in a small amount less than the first 2 - due to a short wait time).

The link explains everything, I just gave a sort of summary. Talking about that link, I should go find it. :p

Might as well put the speedling opener too. Go whatever you want after.

ZvP I've been doing the following; (ling bane) There'a s show on MrBitter's with sQaquanda. It's his build.

15 pool, 14 gas @ 100 gas pull 2 drones.
20~ hatch
~150 gas get speed, at ~60 gas put evo chamber down. The timing will allow you to get +1 melee as soon as evo finishes.
@ 50 gas put baneling nest down + put 2 drones back on gas

Get a extremely fast 3rd hatch, then a macro hatch for more lings/banes.

What are the timings of that compared to 4 gate? It just seems on paper that it would be weak vs it unless you could get the macro hatch down before then (which I wouldn't expect you to have by then)

Batesy's, OP build is pretty standard.

Been meaning to try this baneling fad that seems to be around at the moment vs protoss, but have only seen 1 game that it was used effectively... it was idra vs a plat toss just after the latest balance patch landed... so it was not very definitive.

My tip, go play around on the NA server. My plan was to go there and 4gate every game to see how far it could take me, only to find that after my placements I am a already a division above where I am in ANZ. Then I just went back to zerg and I'm currently on a 4 game winning streak.

As an added bonus I went there originally due to someone I was 2v2 with saying I played bad and they would know because they are diamond in NA... well guess what idiot..

I'm a stable bronze on SEA and got placed gold on NA - there are more players on NA so the skill level is much lower.

Yeah, the skill level on NA is significantly lower until mid-high diamond'ish.

Completed my 2v2 placements and got the 5 hot streak with them... So much better then being stuck in gold on ANZ. I found the problem with being gold on 2v2 is that I got placed with bronze and silver more often then not. Just playing with other diamonds on NA is so much fun.
