Help retreiving account

So I haven't played BF2 for a couple of years and I wanted to fire it up again, but Im having trouble retreiving me account. (Done 2 formats of my HDD in that time)

I did a forget password thing from inside the game, linked me to a gamespy password reset. Still didn't work. Anyone got any advice? I know my solder & his nickname exists as I was able to look him up on the battlefield 2 website

I had this issue last week -
From Tweak Guides -
If you haven't disabled the into movies yet, do not click any keys untill
you get the welcome to duty screen. If you do the key you press will be
recorded as a character in your password.
Then if your Online player name does not come up click the Manage Accounts
tab. Then all you need to do is click 'Retrieve Account' at the top right and your old account will appear - magic.

Just an opinion.

I don't think you would have any less fun starting with a new account.

do you have any idea wat the email address you used is? if you still had bf2 in your login page and didnt kno the email or password u go into your profile setting in bf2 and in a .con file it will say the email addy, and email for that account.. and get the email from there to reset.

I know I am waking up and old topic. I have BF2 installed on my old machien and I want to install it on my new machine. I do have it working fine on the old machine but I have forgotten my password to the account and the accoutn is linked to an email address I nolonger have access too. Does any know of anyway to get the account password changed? I was thinking that there may be a way of recovering the password from the profile.con file but I can not find anything.

I did more searching (google for the win AGAIN) and found a program call cunprot.exe. you just paste the hash from the config.con file into it and it decrypts it.
