What if you're computer dies?
Then you authorise another one using a validation code that gets sent to your registered email address. You can then choose to deauthorise every other computer from using your account.

Really? I can give you my username and password (as Gabe did) and you still wouldn't be able use/steal/hijack my Steam account. This will completely render phishing attempts useless.
Sounds pretty amazing to me.
anything that stops someone hijacking or stealing an account, whether it is mine or someone elses, is a win in my book.
EDIT: if anyone has enough friends on steam would notice that from time to time one person gets attacked and then everyone in a steam group does, and often they nab at least 3 people, simply clicking a link is enough and if this stops that then it will be worth it.
