I think that claiming there are renewable power sources, is some what short sighted.
I guess short sightedness is a matter of perspective.

That's a pretty deep and/or vague statement.

I presume he's being a smart-arse and pointing out that over long enough timescales, the energy emitted from the sun will run out as it runs out of fuel, tidal and wind energy which partially results from the rotational energy of the Earth will eventually diminish as the Earth stops rotating, etc.

Pretty much irrelevant for human intents and purposes.

Funnily enough - I can see China pulling this off. Sure they will have research problems and maybe some other problems, but they know how to build successful infrastructure in that country.

Also with the government backing it, it's not going to get bogged down in the courts with respect to planning approvals ;) The joys of a authoritarian government.

Correct :)
We would be screwed well before the Earth stop rotating as well.
I'm just pointing out that the difference between renewable and non-renewable is an arbitrary line drawn on a timescale. Where the power source is relative to that line isn't a major factor in whether or not it is a good source of power.

No its not an arbitary line at all. It is defined as the ability to replenish at a rate compariable or greater than its consumption.

But consumption rates change.

We'll wait till we have a more competent government watching over this country to implement something like that.
Labor has screwed up enough of their other idea's to help this country. I don't want my or your tax money going to waste because they're useless lol
I could find a monkey more reliable to run this country than labor :D

You mean a government that believes the science behind climate change 'is ****'?
Why would they care about reducing emissions?
